After you get it broke in with Mercury plus! Switch to Penzoil 100% synthetic (walmart 19.00 per gallon) it burns cleaner, better for the fishy's ect.!

Lakeland in LHC sells the Mrc prem. plus from their bulk drums for about 14.00 per gallon. Just bring in your old gallon containers so they can fill them.

I've been using SYNGERYN(sp?) 100% syn, ZERO smoking! I heard its great stuff. There is a link for it on scaryfast's website. Good luck with the new baby Mike.
BTW: keep a eye on the choke-arm the controll's the butterfly. mine has rattled off at speed twice. A little locktight is worth its weight in gold here!

Mike,
Talk to Joe at DCB. I believe Joe at DCB and Lew at Lakeland prefer Merc premium plus. Ask about the warranty. I heard anything other than Merc oil will void the warranty.

Thx for the feedback, looks like I will go with the Merc +; the Lakeland idea sounds like a good thing...
X - how much Oil are you going through? Ie: how much do you go through with each tank of gas?

I think I'm refilling the oil tanks about every 4-5 gas fill-ups. I never let them get lower than a 1/4 tank. I think I've gone through approx 18 gallons of oil in 55+ hours.

If you use the higher octane fuels (100+) you will have virtually no smoke, even running a little rich. Super Fuels in Havasu sells 100 octane and it's not much more than 91. I always use Pennzoil 100% Synthetic with 100 octane.

TPTJ, I heard on the 300x motors you are NOT supposed to use anything higher than 91 octane, is this true??????????

HDD, I was running 100 octane on a '96 2.5 EFI motor. Haven't heard anything about running higher octane on a 300x...anybody else know about this?
