Hi all, name is John, new to forum and jets as well. Just picked up a 1974 glencoe tri hull (don't laugh, it runs). I know it's not one o' them shiny things that seat four, but I think it will be a fine family boat for tubing and teaching my nine year old daughter to wake board (boat came with one). I have a seadoo and waverunner....just tired of having to turn around and go back for wife and daughter all the time (she drives about 15mph), so it's time to let them go. This way we can all be together. Boat came fairly cheap, been sitting for a couple of years, but started right up....needs a lot of work. Don't know if this is the right thread, but I'm sure someone will direct me if not. I was told the motor is a mopar 360, the guy said the jet was berkley, but I can't find any label http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb276/uglyasstroll/xpics026.jpg
Wondering if anyone can tell from pic

Also want the oil changed and a tune up....prefer not to mess with points...been a long time. Anyone know of someplace local for a good price?

Thanks, and if I posted in the wrong place.....oops.

Welcome,

Congratulations on the new boat…
Your jet is a Jacuzzi not a Berkley. American Turbine (http://www.americanturbine.com/) makes a Jacuzzi Energizer Kit, and Place Diverter (http://www.placediverter.com/) makes a trim nozzle for the Jacuzzi.
Also go get a Mopar engine manual from the book store, they more than likely won’t have one for marine engines, but it will help you in general understanding of the engine. If you really need to have a marine version, look online.
As far as taking it into a shop, hopefully someone will have a suggestion or two
This place is a great resource with a lot of knowledgeable people, but to get the info you’re looking for be prepared to get a little bit of the business every now & then.
Good luck to you!

MOPAR book is not gonna help... I am positive that is an AMC.... notice the distributor, and intake, identical to mine. Do some research check the casting number on the block, should be on the sides of it... :D

Welcome to the boards congratulations on your new aquisition! Re your powertrain ,Ryan (longstra) is correct its an AMC motor, similar to what came in Javelins and AMX's ,very likely a 360 cu, weve seen Glencos with a multitude of different engines over the years SBC's,SBF's. Assuming its all original it should work quite well with your Jacuuzi Yj . A couple years back we converted one of these same boats (Equipt with a SBF) with Big Block chevy a "Jacuzzi energizer" and a Place diverter for a gentleman in Socal I'll try to find pics ...Tom

Well it could be a 290,304,343,360,390,or 401... Check by your rear freeze plug on the block it will say what it is right on the block. All the parts on these motors swap out, enternal componets may take some machining, but they all swap. I was gonna build a stroker AMC thought that might be COOL. Well then I decided GOING fast was way COOLER..

So would that boat be considered a gullwing? :D

pw_Tony

Definetely a AMC motor, my buddy had a 401 in his jet boat, but swapped out for a 460 and I bought the old 401 for a friend. And yes it is a jacuzzi pump. AMC's can run strong just like any other motor.
