Has anyone found out why the 2002 300x's don't make full power. They only rev to 5900-6000. The computer checks out, throttles OK, props OK, plugs OK, Smart craft guages Ok(no icons). I know of three different motors with the same problem.

HEY HYDRO, FYI those 300's won't make full power until the computer decides they are broken in!!!! It is a different amount of time for each motor(EG:one might take 3 hours while the other may take 4 hours for the computer to let it rip!!) I'm assuming these are brandy new motors. There was just an article in POWERBOAT MAG about how these motors are built(BY HAND & DYNOED in small batches!!!) If all else fails you could READ THE OWNERS MANUAL!!!!HAHA!

The break in being controled by the computer is true, but I have a customer with 20 plus hours on a pair of 300Xs that will not spin over 6300 no mater what pitch prop is on it. If anyone has any info please tell, I've gotten no where with Merc.

If anyone has any info please tell, I've gotten no where with Merc. The motors have 50 hours. I was just told the computer will not tell you if you have a bad coil. Did you talk to Mark Buyer or Peter Cohen at Merc?

HEY HYDRO & BOATMASTER, Have you done a complete "trouble/error" code with a scan tool? Seems weird that both motors (W/20 hours) would only rev that high!!!I's the smartcraft system the culprit since both motors are run through it? Is it easy to disconnect? Good luck I'll keep my thinking cap on!!!!!!!!VELOCITY BOATS RULE!!!!!!!!!!!

When they swapped computers nothing happened port motor still only 6,000. The other motor rev's right to 6800.

HydroI WISH I COULD FIND SOMEONE WITH A USED MACH22 WITH A 300 PROMAX, ONE WITH A FEW HUNDREND HOURS TO PROVE ITS RELIABLE, MAYBE IN THE MID 30K RANGE.....I WONDER HOW MAY HAVE ONE OF THESE??? :D :D :D :D
BY THE WAY...IM SECONDS FROM PULLING THE TRIGGER ON A NEW 2003 MACH22, WISH THE WIFE WAS MORE INTO IT. SHE THINKS ALL TUNNEL BOATS ARE DANGERIOUS AND WILL FLIP OVER. SHE NEEDS A DEMO RIDE IN SMOOTH AND CHOPPY WATER, THEN THROUGH HER BUTT IN A V-BOTTOM BOAT!
