is it worth the money to have the domes coated for a blower application...no intercooler...6-7 lbs boost...like a swain tech coating for blower pistons that they advertise

Yes! Absolutely worth it.
#1 Polydyn in Texas. Gold coat tops definitley and underside if you so choose
#2 Calico. Don't know where they are out of. They do good work.
Some of the piston companies do coatings, or have one of the two above do them for them.
#4 HPC does a pretty good job on tops.
It keeps heat from getting into the piston. Keeps piston from grawoing the same amount as without coatings. Also keeps detonation at a greater distance. Can also run more lean without hurting it.
The side coating (Skirts) I am not sold on. But the others are a big help.
So one vote for yes.

Ceramic on top, Moly on the sides and there is another coating for inside the piston that repells oil like rain-ex to water. You can also coat the valve springs and oil pump gears. The springs and gears reduce oil temp.----PALHAL

Call and check prices on all of the coatings you will use, then see if you could use better components, like a roller cam setup, or aluminum heads for the same money. From your post, it doesn't seem that you are making a max effort deal. For a max effort, when all else is done/bought, coatings may be the only thing left to do. In that application they are cost effective. In a mild deal (under 15 lbs. boost), there are usually more cost effective ways to go fast. Check prices before breaking out the cash. TIMM
