I'm curious how the current Chevy-Duramax Diesel compares to the new Ford.
My buddies Chevy Pinger is definetly a lot quieter and snappy than my 7.3.

I cant tell you how the 6.0 compares to the duramax, but the 6.0 has a similar sound to the 7.3 but is definatley snappier than the 7.3. My dad's got a 7.3 that he tows his 5th wheel with and loves it and has no problems towing, my 6.0 tows my boat great although its only 1/2 the weight of his 5th wheel so that part is tough to compare. I think in general though the newer diesels are getting more powererful and quieter out of smaller displacement engines due to better computer management and fuel injection technologies. We'll just have to wait and see how their longevity is compared to their larger displacement parents.

I know a guy that does that in his old Mercedes diesel, you follow him and you starting wanting to pull over at the next McDonalds to get some of the french fries youve been smelling :)

Huell Howser did a show on this, and it was real interesting.
