Our family can never decide on a place to eat while going to Parker.
Yes we've tried all the fast food, the dinner at Desert Center & Vidal junction, but I wanted to know if any of you had recomedations.

Not really, but it's a great place to stop on Sunday's on your way home. They have a band playing outside. Great food and good people ( Clownpuncher ).
After you eat you can take the scenic route over the mountains and through Temecula...

This is true, LOL
Thanks for the ROC's Firehouse Grille recommendations. We've met a lot of great HB-RRL-HDF members over the years at ROC's.
While I agree we're a great pit stop on your way to/from the river I also agree that there are eateries that are a little more accessable, especially if you're towing a boat. RFG is about 10-15 minutes off the Monterey exit of I-10. Call my cell 760-641-4726 and let me know in advance when you plan on being there. I'll make sure we have a table waiting for you. Sunday afternoons provide the extra benefit of a live classic rock band playing my favorites on the patio.
There's always one of my favorites in 1000 Palms off of the 10 FRWY at Bob Hope, In-n-out burger. 4 X 4 anyone? If you're not an In-N-Out fan there are several other fast food joints within walking distance from there. Lot's of parking for the rig as well.
And yes there's even a Carl's Jr there. :) Gotta love the Super Star with chees and extra onion.

Thanks Clownpuncher. We'll be going up to Parker for the waterski races in March so I may be taking you up on your offer if it's open to everyone.

I've been to ROC's...damn good food and great atmosphere ! We usually stop at the Agua Caliente casino on our way outta town on Friday night. They have an excellent seafood buffet, and if you want steak their Prime 10 Steakhouse is great too. After dinner, a couple drinks at the blackjack tables...take a couple hundred from the Indians...and we're on our way !

:D :D :D :D For da gig's; off the 10 it's In 'N' Out in 1000 Palms. Goin' up the 62, hit the McD's in 29, grab the "El Cheapos" and hit the road; we're goin' to the River (or Laughlin)! The Rib Co. in Yucca is a definite "don't miss"; but better suited for mthe trip home. Try hittin' The River Willow steakhouse in The Bluewater. Best damn Cajun-blackened ribeye I've found; and I've done a lot of research, as most of you who mknow me can attest! As for ROC's; best burger this side of hell! The Firechief is the bomb! But I gotta agree with CP; kinda tight with the boat in tow!....and speakin' of ROC's; great to finally meet ya Roland! Keep those burgers comin'; and I only have one other thing to say; CHIPOTLE POPPERS! :p

The 29 Casino. The place just inside the door to your right is called Rattlers. Place is 5 star!
With that being said, take the others advice and get off the freeway and go to ROC's! Roland puts on one of the best meals I have ever had!

Roc's if you're taking the 10.
Pappy and Harriets if you're going through Yucca Valley except for their Salads.

Hey were do you stop and eat on the way to the river. Oh sorry you don't go often enough to know.

We never stop, ever.
I tell my wife to bring whatever she needs to snack on, and if she's lucky I'll pull over for a potty break @ Dez Center. You make a career out of your river trips. I'm always around 4, 41/2 hours door to door, and that's towing. Your in what, the ten hour plus range???
Last time I called ya on your way out, your wife says you were out of the truck, buying all the girls ice cream... Kinda like your landscaping skills I guess... :rollside: Low and s-l-o-w
Ballers like you with the twin engine ski race rides, river condos, your just sooo cool. :)

Your right we never stop it's what keeps us on our toe's.
Are you coming up for the ski races.? We need more race footage in the video this year. We'll go by slow so you get a good shot ( the come-back on that one's goning to hurt, why do I do this ).
So now that your selling your dirt toy, and bolting a 300hp on the back of that boat of yours, you and the Mrs. can shack up with us at the condo this summer!!!!!!!!!!

Riverkid
02-27-2006, 05:56 PM
Man, do you ever leave the barn door WIDE OPEN! I'll resist the temptation though. I don't think we'll be coming out. I think the kid is going to the races in Mexico, and we have a boatload of work coming at us right now.
Thanks for the invite, but I think I'll get the low milage 200 fixed before we go for the three hundy. Hard to justify it when it "never gets used"...
Grandpa just bought a new Chaparral deck for Big Bear with the 496/duoprop. We'll prolly do that a bunch this summer...
We don't stop to eat on the way up to Big Bear, either... :)

hey reb. nope. i have not even been on a ski since about august of last year. i was wrapped up though and skied for about 30 mins. or so. i figured i wont ski until friday when i get there or i might just say hell with it and wait till race day and see what happens. i have been in the gym though. i think i am only going to ski the mini on saturday. on sunday i think we are pulling mark and mike in double up just like last year.
