I hope that this works out. It is a video of us catching deer. Horrible music. Not my choice!

That looks like one hell of a ride!! Some of those deer have to be f*cked up by time you get them. They flip head over heels like 5 times before stopping!!!
Where can I get one of those net guns:devil:

The deer are really tuff. We build the guns ourselves.

Alot of them are for TTT (trap, transport and transplant). We move deer from an over populated ranch to one that is under populated. There is also a deer breeding program that allows u to catch up to 20 doe and one native or scientific buck and put them in a pen (at least 6 acres). They are caught in October before the rut and released by Sept 31 after fawns are born. The bucks are for a study that Texas A&M is doing to determine a better way of aging deer. Something better than looking at their teeth. All total we catch about 2500 deer a year.

I can only imagine the looks you get when people ask what you do for a living... "Well, I fly the shit out of a Robinson helicopter chasing deer, while my partner shoots a net at them... " :D :D :D

The company in Arizona sell them for about $3500-$4500. It is a good gun and we have 2 of them, but they are to heavy. We build ours from a Thompson Contender and build the manifold and barrels. Ours are pistol grip and the others have a stock.

How are they found after netting? Does the chopper remain on scene until ground tranport arrives or?

We have radios that we talk to the guys on 4 wheelers. They are usually right below or very close by. We usually have 3 guys on 4 wheelers. One guy will take the net off, tie the feet, blindfold the deer, and load the deer on the 4 wheeler. When I first started with the company that is what I did for the first year. It is much easier shooting and it pays good. Nine years of netting. We can usually catch about 6-10 deer an hour.

Thanx, that's a lot of deer. Do they ever get injured, it looks like some take some pretty good tumbles?

A few broken legs. I can only remeber 4 broken neck in all the years that i have done it. Some of the exotics like Addax, Scimitar Horned Oryx, Lechewe, and Blesbock are pretty fragile. We usually dart them from the helicopter.

:jawdrop: I was thinkin the same damn thing!!
Everytime the net went out, the phrase "any person that runs is a VC" kept comin to mind.
On another note, I could swear that's the theme music to 'Barbecue University' with Steven Raichlen
