Folks,
how is the water now? I have been hearing that the water is high.
Would a trip up river be done without a white knuckle ride through the reeds?

I was there for the last week or so. Water level seemed to drop a bit each day. Went to the Sandbar on Saturday afternoon....w/ no issues. It's higher than it was this time last year

We've been up and down the river from Davis Dam to Parker Dam, but I would guess your main restriction is going to be draft. Our Donzi had 3 feet of draft, I wouldn't try it with that much past Needles. The Tahiti has about 6-8inches of draft, less at speed, so we just cruised from gas station to gas station all the way up:D . There are a few rapids between the Needles - Arizona bridge and the AVI casino, but they can be navigated if you are careful. I put a passenger on the bow and go slowly. We've done that with our Cheetah, and found the Cali side to be the main channel. The AZ side is sometimes less than 2 feet deep and can ding your prop, or, if you are not being careful, stop you quickly (we watched a Mastercraft "hit the brakes" when the bottom and prop grounded in the center of the river). :jawdrop:
If you are concerned about the transition from the main lake to the river, there is a channel just about centered in the river. If you were to take a nav line from river center to the no-wake bouys demarking the fishing area north of Windsor, it is about 3.5 - 4 feet deep through there at the shalowest. We can shoot throught there in the Advantage, and did so in the Donzi without problems. Your best bet is to take it slowly the first time, and carry a GPS that you will use for future trips. Once you find the route, erase the bad ones, and just follow the breadcrumbs on future trips. I used to take the western channel all the time with the jet to try to save gas, but don't know how well it would do with a prop I/O boat.
