Unfortunately the Gran Prix of Phoenix with the Champboat Series has pulled the plug on the entire event for this year due to games being played by the ownership of Firebird Raceway- very typical.
Look for the Tempe Town Center Lake Race next year in early October.
Thanks,
Ross
BTW, the K's (don't know how many) will be running the following weekend at the SCSC Season and Series Finals at Bakersfield, Lake Ming on October 6 & 7.

I always thought TEMPE TOWN LAKE would be awesome for boat racing. I hope it happens .

It's not the Indians that are the problem. We won't mention any names (Cheap Charlie) but the guy who runs the place can be very hard to work with. I am sorry to here that the racers got screwed yet again by him. After being bent over our car who knows how many times by him we decided never to go back there to race, and that has been one of the best decisions our team has ever made.:D

Not an Indian thing, it is all on Firebird lake. Charlie Allen screwed with Champ and made the race impossible. They originally negotiated a price for the race. When the contract came through, the price was per day, not for the 3 day event. Champ was still willing to pay the rate, but in the end a "sports drink" sponsor ($$ that made the race viable) was not allowed to have their name included in any advertising at the race or have any representation at all. IT would conflict with the drink vendor for Firebird... So with a tripling of the price to put on the event, and the loss of $ponsor money, NO RACE.
The city of Tempe (Town Lake) wants more time to figure out what to do, there were too rushed this year to make it happen. It looks like it will be a good chance that it will be run next October in TEMPE!!!
Last year at the IHBA finals they were charging racers an additional $$$ (I think it was $300) to test and tune on Thursday. Normally this was free, some of the racers were questioning why? Don't they want a good/safe race, why charge extra money?
I don't know Charlie Allen, but I have heard a lot of things...

It would be nice to see some races at Tempe. I'm sick and tired of the rowboats I see there. I took my boat there once and fired it up in the parking lot just to see how many looks I would get. I got told by at least 5 people that "that type of boat is not allowed here" so I decided to launch, row around, and fish for a bit. I was so tempted to light up the motor and buzz around. I was good and didn't though. Next time!

IF you have a GAS motor, you can't even launch... Tempe Town Lake doesn't allow ANY gas motors at all. I tried to get a permit to use my bassboat, told them I would even take off the lower unit just to fish. They said NO. When the lake first opened, they allowed 26 permits, it appears as though a couple of jerks got tired of using their electric motors to go across the lake and fired up their big motors, now NO gas motors at all...

As far as the DRAG RACERS goes, the above statement is ABSOLUTELY WRONG!!
The price for drag race "Test-n-Tune" was either $100 or $150 (the usual "flat fee" for T-N-T)

MY BAD, I did say "I thought"; my friend was bitching about having to pay that's where I got that info from. From what he thought it was free the year prior. Not true? The Champ stuff I am certain about...

They upped the price for motorhome spots for the finals this year to $600:confused: When we got our letter to confirm and send the balance of the money there was a sweet letter informing us that the spot for the 2008 Finals woul be $800:eek:  :yuk:

Why do you guy's , flat bottom racers, drags circle K boats etc., no longer run a regular scheudle at Parker? I went ALL the time as a kid back in the 60's. when the old judges tower was out in the water at Bluewater Lagoon, My Dad comes down from Idaho every October to the nostalgia event just to watch the flats run. Seems to me , the casino would welcome you all with open arms and maybe even put up some big purse money. Whatever happened to the kilo racers?

RPM RACING ENT. AND SCSC are looking forward to two more great events before the end of 2007. The BWRC '300' Enduro is slated for October 20, 2007 and the 61st Annual Thanksgiving Regatta is scheduled for Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving this year. Check www.scscracing.com more information or www.boatracingfacts.com.
In 2008 we will be having our annual Spring Regatta in April, the APBA PWC National Tour in May, the Enduro again in October and 62nd Annual Thanksgiving Regatta ALL EVENTS ARE AT THE BLUEWATER RESORT AND CASINO ADD: THEY ARE THE MAIN SPONSOR.
Last, The kilo's at Parker died due to lack of racer interest, not enough racers that were looking to participate and consequently the club, SCSC, got tired of losing lot's of money (cost XTRA to put on a Kilo event) for no interest.
Thanks,
Ross Wallach, Race Director SCSC/RPM RACING ENT.
