A co worker of mine knows we go to Havasu so made sure to tell me about a 14 year old boy who passed from a flesh eating bacteria in the water at Havasu. Has anybody else heard about this????

sounds good less people on havasu. Yes it did happen in havasu but how many people come here everyday and swim and nothing has happened. Think about the channel if you havent died from sitting in the channel all day then you should be ok.

A Statement from the City Manager of Lake Havasu City .....
in part.....
City staff has communicated with communtiy officials in Texas and Florida
that have experienced similar circumstances and we are learning from their experience and actively sharing information. Arizona State health officials have informed the City they do not feel the general populace is at risk and they are not recommending warning signs be posted at state parks or public access to Lake Havasu be restricted or otherwise controlled. The city will maintain contact with state and county health officials to monitor any changing conditions or new information......

Not only that, but some people make it sound like it is only in Havasu or caused by pollution when it is in any fresh water at certain temps.
It is nasty though to think a single cell can kill someone in 2 weeks by eating the brain...sad

Now let me tell you all something. I came accross a Big 5 sporting goods in Lake Havasu to buy some sun glasses. I also saw nose plugs there also. That problem could have been solved for about $1.95.
So when your all hangin out at the sandbar and want to kick up some water, put on your nose plug. I would rather look stupid than die in 2 weeks from a brain eating matter. Everyone agree??

We've decided you're seven times more likely to die from a bee sting.
