Do Skaters need a lot of setback? I would have thought that with two engines, they wouldn't need a lot. You didn't say what you have now or what you are going to.
I don't know anything about Skaters so I'm interested in setup details. I look forward to your postings on the 30th.

I am guessing 3-4Mph faster. I would have to say that mbrown2 is going to be the closest.Although I would like it to be 8mph.Motors are bolted to the transem now.Yes the 24 Skater needs set back.I was at 101 to 102mph and now if I see 105 I'll be stoked.

I would agree with the 3 to 4 mph. I just changed a customers 28 skater with 300x from transom to 6inch and he gained 6 to 7mph. Can't wait to hear, good luck and cross your fingers for the 8.

Quick question for everyone. Has anyone tried spacing their prop further back on the propshaft? In other words, put in an extra thrust washer to get the prop further back on the shaft?
I am not going to machine a nut in half, but I think I might try putting an extra thrust washer in because I have enough room to do that without having to machine a nut. Just want to see what MPH I pick up.
I am going to buy a GPS this spring, so I thought I would try this. Any thoughts?

I hope I am wrong on the low side for your sake...mine was just a guess...I am not sure what you are spending for the Extensions/Install, ect...but I figured it was around 1K to 2K...It always seem for every 1K I spend, I get 1 to 2 mph increase (cross my fingers)...I am hoping you get better..

Spending a little less than 1k.So if I get 3 mph I'll be stoked. That means I'll be able to do 100 any time, full of gas and gear, people or lead weights.Merry Christmas to everyone.

Well,.Long story so I'll try to keep it short. All testing was done with exactly the same conditions with the exception of 15 gallons more fuel yesterday and today. Last time out(Thanks Giving) I didn't have my GPS so I was guessing on the speed.Speedo said 100 on the money. So yesterday I took it out for the 1st time with 6 inch set backs and had exact same speed results with a little less trim. And the GPS reads 99.2 when the speedo reads 100.Pretty disappointed so I put it on the trailer and adjusted the motors up 1 and 1/4 inches on the plates.Which is a huge amount.Took it back out and saw 103mph!Now here is the bad news. The low water pick ups ran out of water so I had to adjust the motors back down 1/4",which resulted in a 1mph loss.Sooo the final result is 99.2 to 102mph.My GPS only reads 3 characters so I can read 99.2 or 99.9,but as soon ass it goes to triple digits like 102 I don't know if it's 102.4 or 102.9.I guess I'm happy, but I think if I spend more $ on water pick ups from the bottom of the boat. Then I can raise the motors up even higher.By the way this is with Merc 34" 4 blades at 6250rpm.I still think the boat needs bow lifting props so i don't have to trim it out so much to make it run.I say 105 or more is obtainable.Any pros out there with advise?

I was in front of Windzor launch ramp on Friday night(going 103mph) and Saturday morning.First run on Saturday morning at 9AM I had to back off the throttle because I got a headache from the instant freeze to my head.Kind of like taking that 1st bite of icecream.

Thanks  It's the perfect 1/2 mile strip on Lake Havasu called speed alley.Water conditions in the alley are always perfect. In fact boats are usualy 1 to 2 mph faster in the alley. With a nice perfect sand beach that is full of props for you to try and radar guns to smash your dreams. The beach can hold about 25 to 30 boats.I'm not giving the exact location for obvious reasons.See ya there.

Steve If we race in the alley I need to be at the finish line before you take off.If we race down the middle of the lake at 12 noon I'll give you the same.I think it would be great to try those 26 inchers and start the race at 18mph.Man I wish I were there now.
