FastTimmy's Going OutBoard.....

OK guys, I am officially in unfamiliar territory.. This is my new winter project that I just picked up. It has a electric motor on it right now, it originally came with a 40hp out board. The guy I bought it from took off the out board to put the electric on it so he could drive it on his private lake in AZ..
My question is. What the hell should I put back on it. I have been cruising Ebay and other sites for a 40 to 50 HP out board and find my self rather confused or maybe just a little overwhelmed..:(
It is a 11' 6" boat not sure on the weight yet.
Anyone have some suggestions...:D

Hey Keith, I measured my transom and came up with 17" from the top of my stand off to the bottom of my sponsons/drain plug. What length shaft would you recommend??

20", maybe 25"...not sure... I have no experience with those little boats. Sorry bro. Typically, on the full size boats, you'd run the propshaft even with or possibly above the bottom of the boat.
For instance, I run my propshaft centerline, 1-1/8" above the bottom of the boat. I do have 6" of setback from the transom though (the length of my jackplate), which lets the water travel up about 3/4" from the bottom. If I were right on the transom, I would be about 1/2" above the bottom.

Yeh, this little ting has a set back plate, it has about 8" - 10" of set back. I'm not really going for a rocket ship. Just a mini cruiser. Sounds like it is not that big a deal if the prop shaft is 4 or 5 inches in the water on this thing...:confused:

Can anyone tell me if the rams on the sides of this thing are for Trim or some kind of X dimension or Jack plate? :D
