Hondo Runnerbottom

1976 Hondo XH511-GT runnerbottom. Proven race boat, would make a great 9 or 10 second boat. It's fairly light, around 485 pounds. New paint job in February '06, 10* Casale v-drive with 18 gears and Whirlaway, complete air shift setup. It was rigged by Mettler when he worked at Hondo, built for Roy Doby "Gear Up" UGF. I know all of the history on the boat. I have tons of pics and I'm sure I'm forgetting something, so send me your e-mail address and I'll get more to you. Drop in your BBC, ignition, and fuel system and go racing. Boat is located near St. Louis, MO but I could probably help with delivery. Sits on Competitive tandem trailer with chrome fenders and new tires. $5500 obo.

I decided to keep the motor, and I knew you wanted a turnkey deal. Gonna keep the 477 as a spare. I sent you a PM here on ***boat. I also saw the prices on some race-ready turnkey boats that are not as nice as this Hondo.

When I was running 10.70's-11's, I was consistently hitting 98mph with approximately 550-575hp on a good day. 477 roller Chevy with a single Dominator carb and iron oval port heads...basically a spare motor we had sitting around. I've been running 9.70's-10.0's this year with the same setup after adding a tunnel ram, now it hits 103-105mph. So right around 600hp will put you at 100mph...it's a pretty light boat, sets quick and runs straight. These are just estimations since the motor has never been on a dyno, but I'd say they're pretty accurate.

Good enough for me, but thanks for the compliment. It truly is a clean boat, and they're getting harder and harder to find! I am planning on ordering a new TR4 or Canyon if I can get a committed buyer for this Hondo, so I'll be making a trip to California. The v-drive market in the Midwest isn't that great, so I was planning on delivering it to the West coast if anyone has interest.

Thanks, Lester. I have a lot of new hardware already, so it basically comes down to just ordering a new bare hull to rig...need a little more cash and some garage space though. I'll be in Phoenix again this year, so I'll stop by and say hi to you and the Brady boys.

I think I have a set of 22 gears that would also go in addition to the 18's that are in the v-drive. I'll have to check the garage...it's been a long few months of racing!
