Brown faces disorderly conduct charge
Associated Press
VALDOSTA, Ga. (AP) - Los Angeles Lakers center Kwame Brown was charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with a police officer after his cousin was charged with drunken driving.
Brown faces misdemeanor charges after Valdosta police pulled over Charles Warren Jr. early Saturday for driving the wrong way down a one-way street, Lt. Bobbi McGraw said Wednesday.
Police questioned Warren about the strong smell of alcohol in his vehicle. Brown approached the officers and told them he was Warren's cousin and the vehicle belonged to the basketball player, McGraw said.
She said there was no indication Brown was in the car, but that he happened to be in the area.
Brown became disruptive and tried to interfere with the officers' investigation, which led to his arrest, McGraw said.
Brown was released shortly after his arrest. He likely will appear in court on the charges within two months, McGraw said.
The 25-year-old Brown averaged 8.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and a career-best 1.2 blocked shots in 41 games last season. He had offseason surgery on a sprained left ankle.
Brown, the 2001 top draft pick by the Washington Wizards, was accused of sexual assault in May 2006 by a college student, but prosecutors rejected the case because of a lack of evidence.

Valdosta, GA, OH MY! Nothing but bad happening to athletes in the off season around that region of the country. Why he may get caught hooking a buddy up with a coke connection, just as a favor ala Jamaal Lewis or maybe take up a "Sporting Dog" hobby ala Mike Vick.
Idle hands......
