I have been looking all morning, searching, for a decent list of manufactures of new glass hulls. Not day cruisers, but performance hulls. Like, the Carrera Eclipse, or Advantage 20.5" Classic. I found some links, but most were out of date. Maybe we can start a list current list of manufactures one hulls. Both of their own design, and new hulls based on classic designs and molds.

I think Aftershock bought Carrera and still makes the Eclipse ... 800-600-5112

Danny at DCM is laying up these beauties. Not sure if its what you're looking for or not but worth checking them out. He can do them as simple or as custom as you wish.

More interested in hulls such a the Rogers Bonneville, or Sanger flat-bottom, Cole TR's. Classic Late 60's, 70's boats. Those are sure nice though. A mean really needs 2 jet boats!

If you're really looking for performance I would not rule out one of these:

If I had the money I would go aluminum. They can take anything, look good, and perform great.
Those hulls DCM are building are sweet! They're based off an 70's Hallet, or maybe Spectra? That's a new hull right there lamsv. I would take either of those, hard decision. But it's all preference.

They're the old Howard 21 molds.

These are the 2nd set of Howard cruiser molds, the original had the dipped gunnals like the Spectra it was splashed from. Cool boats, glad someone's building parts from them. I saw the I/O at the LB races. :)

How fast would one of those boats run with a 1200 HP blown big block in it?

Set up race style with the proper spoon and no interior, I'd guess about 125+. But that's a guess. I know properly set up with a ZZ502 can run close to 100, and I'd guess a healthy 800 HP would run 115. I think at 1200HP, you'd have some issues feeding that pump with a spoon so you may be throwing away 2-400 HP. Maybe some more traditional lake hardware with a loader/shoe would help feed the beast a little better at 1200 HP. In traditional racer form, remember we run these WOT for extended periods of time. With that being said, the 1200 HP would have to be a very good build. Maybe some clarification on your question would be in order. Set up for lake? River? River racer (whitewater style)? 1/4 mile? what hardware? etc etc. These are just semi-educated guesses, I'm sure Xero will have a much more educated guess-Aluminum Squirt

First off, and Old Rigger will varify this, The Advantage 20.5 Classic was origionally laid up by Tahiti in the mid to late 70s.
Carrera Eclipse is alright nice but a tad small on the interior for my taste. We looked at the Eagle in '99, and I'll leave it at that!
Hallett's 21' Vector is nice, but be prepaired for a some sticker shock!
Schiada - Havent seen to many set up w/ a jet, aside from the sticker shock, you're going to wait up to a year to get it.
Shockwave's 21 LS, (and I'm sure someone will correct me) is based of the Eliminator 20, Bahner 21, Ultra 20 & 21 designs.
Cobra was building an 18' (T-Deck(?) Southwind design) and a 19' back in 2002ish
There was some builder at the '07 LA Show (cant remember the name), but he was building the old Spectra 19 (later, Eliinator 20 something?). They called it a 20 Performance Jet.
I'd like to have DCM build me one of their boats, but unless I win the lotto, thats not going to happen for a few years, sorry Danny.
There is some guy who post on craigslist every so often, Winchester, CA., building old Cole Hulls, and Crusader Hulls... not sure who he is exactly.
Unfortunately there really isnt a market for 18' to 20' performance jet boats anymore, so most builders quit building them.

That seems to be very, VERY true. Which is too bad. These boats are sort of like muscle cars. I think there is a generation that grew up around them that now have careers, some money, and would love to have a turn key performance jet boat, styled like the classics, but in a turn-key configuration.
That Bamco hull looks pretty nice. Still not as smooth as a Rogers. But, still...very nice.

Has he popped any Spectra/GMT 19s recently?
Thanks,

Advantage makes a few of their 20.5 every year and still has their 18' mold sitting in the back of the shop.

My educated guess wouldn't sound too much different from what he said. I'd say it would scare you but these hulls handle HP so well and they behave so nicely I don't think it necessarily would :D You'd definatly be hauling the mail tho and with lake boat loaders flying that boat I'd be shocked if you weren't in the 120 range. 750 will probably get you triple digits so go from there, we all know the faster you go the harder it is to go even faster.
Lets hope we can get Overkill up here to go for a blast in "this" boat and he can bring back his report as to how the 21 tunnel feels with big power.

The guy you were talking about is Stan Mosqua (sp?). He used to own Crusader Boats and just opened a new shop near Hemet. I have a new 21 Aftershock that I'm riggin that came from a mold Stan used to have, it's the 21 Tornado, not the Skier. Great hull and works really good with a jet. Seems like part of the problem for guys that want to build their own is that most manufactures won't sell them a bare hull. Can't say that I really blame them with liablity, etc.. Most will sell a minus motor package, but bare hull is tough to find and that limits it even more.
PS, mine will be for sale shortly with a fresh 468 4 bolt, MPD pump, Dana exaust, etc.
Don't know what stuff is currently selling for, but the prices on the website are hovering around 60ish for a moderately decked out 21 with a jet. Ouch, are they going for that much???????
