Does anyone know how they rated horsepower for a boat.Is it horsepower or the weight of the motor. I have a 57 lonestar runabout rated for 70 HP,and I was wondering if I could go with a bigger HP but less weight.(new style motor) Any help would be appieciated. THANKS S.S.

Keep an eye on that transom. Some additional aluminum bracing and brackets might be an order. Does the boat have stringers? If so, is the inside of the transom tied to the stringers with brackets?

well as long as the transom stays above water and it does not bow too much then i would say kepp adding power till you see the results you want!!
