When I was a teenager I would have said "not at all". Now that I have them I know that is not true. There are a couple of threads that caused me to reflect on my TV influences of the past. If you asked me what I was going to do in life when I was 8 years old, I would not have hisitated to say the following.
I am going to buy a Kenworth K-100 cab over semi truck, red and white of course, get me a chimpanzee and travel the country in search of adventure.
I am refering to one of the stupidest TV shows of all time. B.J. and the Bear but I love it at 8. I had it all figured out. I was going to use half of the truck to live in and use the other half to haul goods. I wouldn't need to make that much money since I didn't have to rent an apartment. Hence only needing fill my truck up half way. Seemed logical at the time. What kid wouldn't want a pet monkey. That Bear attracted all the chicks.
After the Monkey as a pet and the 10-4 thread, I am really glad I changed my mind.
What crazy dream did you have as a kid that was influenced by TV?

Dude I was 8. At that time a FAG was someone who cut in line or flicked food on you at lunch.

about 4 years ago I caught the kids playing that and told them that was the old name for that game. When they asked what the new name was I said it was "Tackle the Jackal". The bought it and started calling it that.

At first TV had no impact on me, after a 48hr Linda Lovelace marathon, I'm now a TV addict...
Just call me John Holmes from now on
BTW pass me my 60oz super buy lotion

I was inquiring about TV as a kid. I have little time for TV as an adult. I have stuff on my DVR from July.

Back to the original question - I Love Lucy made me despise sitcoms, and any show or gag that denigrates people as stupid for fun. Admittedly I haven't given many of the much of a chance, since I had better things to do, but what little I've seen of most half hour sitcoms makes me think they are based upon either injuring/hurting someone or soemone doing something incredibly stupid. Maybe that viewpoint has to do with my poor social skills.

#4 movie of 1978
Every Which Way But Loose
Kind of ties in with the whole B.J. and the Bear deal.
