I've found a Sanger picklefork jet and wondering if it has any "quirks" to it. Layup, handling, etc.

I don't know how they ride but they do look great. I would love to have one, but not much of a family ski boat.
You might look for dossanger. I think his son has one and It looks bad a$$

IMHO putting a jet drive on a hydro was the worst idea Sanger ever had. To attain any real speed, a hydro has to achieve a three point ride. That's just not possible with a jet. I saw a couple of these boats at Nacimiento in the late '70's and they were slugs. Can't speak to the handling question though.

slugs really? My pops had one that moved along pretty damn good with a L88 in it.
Now I think everyone thinks that all sanger pickleforks should do 150. I also think that you don't need to obtain a full sponson walk to do 100. For someone that wants a 70-80 maybe 90 mph boat that looks bad ass in the water this I do believe will get you there. Only because I have seen it.

I have one as well.
Hull has no quirks, handles, turns exceedingly well under power.
Sure it's not going to be a 130 mph family boat (where are they all anyway?) but then that isn't what you want is it?
Tow a skier - no problem.
Bense mentioned 70 - 80, that is readily achievable. Like most jets you already see out on the water, they need reasonable horsepower and the requisite set up.
I personally think they do look cool. That's just my opinion of course. Be ready to be hammered on here though, funny thing is I've had nothing but compliments elsewhere... wink

I can't speak intelligently on how well a jet hydro works, but after doing total restoration's on my last two boats i can say that $7,500 is pretty steep if the boat needs any work at all. For that price, I'd like the boat to already have a rebuilt motor, blueprinted pump and a nice interior. Otherwise, you'll end up spending a fortune getting it to run right and fix up the cosmetics.

It's amazing isn't it............A guy was selling one on ebay a while back and said it was "One of the only two in existance."
They're cool looking, and if they'll run 80 that's pretty fast. I'd have to agree with cyclone on the price thing though. $7500 should buy you a pretty much turnkey boat I'd think.
