Thanks Mike, your always a great guy to have on the team. We were pretty dialed last time you came out to help, sure makes my weekend easier. Its tough to do everything yourself when there is alot to do, I used to do it solo but its getting harder.. I have a feeling this will be a tough race since the boat has not seen a race track for 11 months and its basicaly a new deal but Im fired up to start dialing this thing in.

I think there will be few runs in the 7s this weekend, Harris/Miller have a 7.50 boat so watch out :D Sofa, and JohnD are knocking on the 7 sec door, 418 will be tweaking hardware but looking for low 8s if its not windy. WHo will be the odds on favorite this weekend in UBFJ?
Besides Hicks of course. I see Hicks going out early and some new blood bringing home the bronze guy. (I mean the cheesy plastic trophy thingy):D

That's not why I'm coming, but that can happen(I just want to get some nice pictures taken for my wall).
Hopefully, it won't be the first couple passess, and I'll at least get to see how the new tree works and maybe change a little something. Last time I raced, there was no tree, just a long run out with blinking lights if you were not paired up.
I'm sure you've spent lots of time under and around his boat tuning the setup and other stuff. That's cool. He might as well even it up now. Set it up for Sunday if you can. I'll be there Friday afternoon to tech in.
No heat here. Just a tired, old Ford training engine. RR

Well Randy. You made it!!!!!!! 2 in a car and 3 in a boat. You are bringing your's also, aren't you(your boat)?? I want you to be able to smoke me with your solenoids wide open so you feel better.

So 5 seasons huh? That is good. My mill is 5 seasons old as well.
I am not bringing my boat as I built it to be a river rod.
As for you smoking me, I am still waiting for the video you say you have where you beat me, but that has still not surfaced. Why don't you bring it down to Ming so we can all watch. I wouldn't mind seeing your CP saw me off on film - that is if that's what really happened.
Don't be butt hurt because I drove by you with my N20 bottle sitting on the beach:eek:
Just because you have more power (motor to motor) then I do doesn't me you will always come out on top. Ask Jordan the first time we paired up.
Oh, and don't forget, the finish line at Ming isn't crooked like your used to at Lost Lake.

Willis Call me comming up Sunday for Testing- Cannot make it Sat as my Grandson is having a birthday party and even Racing can't beat that. Getting to much CaCa from some not being at last, Heat warns the spirit to listen.
Mike will bring Camara if it helps, But it requires hand cranking in 8MM with 8 Track Playback. PS don't know if you can get it developed anymore or much less a 8 track player for sound playback. Still have some "WAR" & Smoke Robinson Tapes you could listen to! Heck it could turnout to be a party- VanHorn will be there, he knows what IM talking about. HA Age, What Is It Good For- Absoluetly Nothing - Say It Again! Ha Age. and its got Poncho Via Was A Friend of Mine. Vic will remember him. I'm not even going to waste my time racing you. You have more rules and regulations then the NJBA. Even if I had 4 bottles, you would bust out a scale to weigh them all, make me leave the 2 heaviest ones on the beach, and then only alllow me to install the other two backwards. After that, you would make me only pair up 500 feet from the finish line but I would have to be on the outside as the inside line is actually closer to the finish line (where you run) You would give me the jump (because your a nice guy) and after I drive by you you would want to do it again but with me giving you the jump. But wait, before that run you would have your son motor out on a jetski to take pressure readings on my nitrous bottles to make sure the were no higher then 900psi. After that we would run again and maybe in the 500 feet you would reach the finish line first by a foot or two. The next week you would post on the internet how you sawed me off and have detailed video to prove it, however, that video would never surface and instead you would tell me to watch out as this new motor was just another training motor.
So it's ok, I will just sit on the beach and watch that Rogers put you on the trailer!

I hate to break it to you River Racer but after your licensing passes you'll be put in a lane next to other river racers. There aren't that many in the class so the odds are good that you'll end up racing that Rogers whether you want to or not. So where's your fast one, chump? I'd say a Ford FE with 1 4150 vaccum carb, no NOS, no Blower, No Nitro, No Turbo and 4200 pounds to carry around in 10 something is pretty fast on street tires with 3.91 gears. Of course I know, you've got one quicker. But, it stays in your mommy's garage until she says it's ok for you to pull it around on your trailer and let everyone go 'OOOOHHHH-AAAAHHHH" when it goes by behind your smog pump P/U truck. Really, I'd like to play, but I've got a race to get ready for. Leaving tomorrow at 11:00. I'll be there for my pictures. Thanks for the invite to AJ's, or was it BA's. It's all the same to me. Just wanted to give props to my main meathead John D on his victory at Ming.
Great numbers put up John! Congrats and goodluck in a couple weeks.
Also want to congratulate everyone else in the UBFJ clss that put up big numbers. I heard Cs19 ran 8.01 and Morgan ran 8.0s as well. Also read that Mike D ran deep into the 7s. Those numbers are huge! When I talked to John D last night he was very excited about winning. He was quick to give credit to everyone else in his class that hauled donkey. It wont be long and Hicks will have to start working hard to stay up front.

Need to thanks the guys who helped me this weekend. Mike F. you are the man, thanks for everything!! Could not have done it without you. RCB19 thanks for the help and all the laughs. Steelcomp came down Sat and dove right in and helped out alot, thanks!! Busby for dropping me in yesterday when we were short on help, Thanks Brian. Gold cup for the nitrous refills and loaned parts, thanks guys. let me know what I owe you.
I was super stressed out all weekend, working on numerous boats at one time and trying to get mine sorted out is tough, never had a chance to sit down and look at data to review things without a distraction so we didnt make much progress but overall a good first race. Highlights for the 418 were qualifying #2 out of 14 in the 8.0 bracket and making the semis. Going 8.01 for the #3 spot in ubfj was awesome. Racing a blown alky flat was insane in the bracket and the 000/418 battle in ubfj was a fun race as usual, identical ets but got sawed on the tree, nice run sofa..Got to run Kelly Blacks 8.0 flat which is one seriously bad ass Cole tr4, lost that one by .011 but it was cool running against some serious hardware like that..
Good first weekend back after a year of being away from the track, 418 has potential to run hard hopefully i can sort out the hardware sooner than later. Really looking forward to Firebird, should be dialed for TE.

Congrats to the guys in River Racer Class.
First race for Rippingnolegs in the white knight and he did an awesome job, cool and calm all weekend and ripped off a 9.60 :)
Woods (fuel) killed the tree with a .1 light and ran back to back 9.70s, you drove real well and have a pretty good handle on the sled, very nice woods! Had us a little nervous on those 2 runs in the wind and rollers but you did the right thing both times..will post some vid later.
Widow hit his goal of 100 MPH, nice job guys!! Well deserved.

Cs going rounds in 8.0 and #3 q in ubfj.
Braun won the 8.5 bracket by beating cyclone in the finial. Mike treed him but didn't quite have enough on the big end. Good job after the all weekend thrash.
Patty nice job on your first win.
Mike d ran some serious #'s and almost got the mph record

I don't need an excuse. I was there to race the clock, not you. My boat ran 9.94 @ 103.5. Yours ran 10.13 @ 100.7. I'd say that's a serious case of getting your ass kicked in. Your reaction time of .174 vs. 1.507 might have had a little to do with your 'victory'. Had I known you wanted to race, I would have tried harder(or maybe not). My boat was run setup EXACTLY the way it is run at LL. NO changes-zero(except for fresh oil and plugs). I know with a 2 step to launch(7200 rpm cavitation), and a closed bucket to stage(it's hard to watch the lights with your boat turning sideways on the rope), the boat will run 9.50's at 105 AS IS-NO CHANGES. That's plenty fast for what I do. I'm not a Professional Drag Boat racer, I'm a RiverRacer. Anytime you like there Widowmaker, you can try your luck.
I'd also like to say that Jordan's boat ran FASTER than mine again(like I SAID regarding the first time we raced at LL when I couldn't run him down). He would have beat me if we had raced. He has done a good job on his deal, and he should be proud of the results his hard work has produced.
Had lots of fun this weekend, but also remembered why I stopped doing this 20 years ago. RR

Nice meeting you as well Cole. I wouldnt call that an ass kicking, Id call that me getting lucky..:) Nice job out there you drove that boat very well. When do you plan on having the boat you were telling me about ready to run? It sounds like its going to be a bad ass boat.
As far as the tree goes, its a tough tree. When NJBA had to go to the back up timing system a few years back we all had to leave atleast one number earlier. From what Ive seen and heard most of the jets are leaving on a 9 going out or early 8, I havent raced there in a year and my lights sucked last weekend so I dont really know.:)

but here's the thing. when you are on the rope next to another boat and you're both staring at the same xmas tree, the other guy shouldn't have to tell you that you're racing.
you took your boat to a race track, remember? Reaction time is everything and claiming a win because you had a better ET doesn't mean jack when the other guy tree'd you with a chainsaw. you had a faster boat but Widowmaker was a better driver period.

[QUOTE=widowmaker;2854092]I know I'm gonna get heat for this but why would you go to the track and make no hardware changes all weekend..... kinda defeats the purpose????
It's not confusing. I went there to verify my GPS and GTECH numbers, not to race anyone in particular or defeat any purpose or prove any point. If Jordan and I would have paired up, I would have tried to cut a light, but the boat is not light cutting friendly at this point. It has never been to the races, and I haven't been since I was 30 something(and that's awhile ago). If you want to say you beat someone, at least let them know they're supposed to be racing.
It's a waste of time to change parts when your not able to use throttle effectively to leave, in my opinion, as your time will vary depending on how long it takes to get to full throttle after you break the beam.
Until(and if) I get the boat to a light cutting friendly configuration, if you like, you can put a car together. Then tell me we're going to race. I'll meet you and leave your ass glued at the tree. RR

dennis- i'm glad you had a good time and it was great to see another boat at the track. I hope you come back even stronger next time.
but here's the thing. when you are on the rope next to another boat and you're both staring at the same xmas tree, the other guy shouldn't have to tell you that you're racing.
you took your boat to a race track, remember? Reaction time is everything and claiming a win because you had a better ET doesn't mean jack when the other guy tree'd you with a chainsaw. you had a faster boat but Widowmaker was a better driver period.
I don't think he showed anything but how to be a poor loser. We all have our opinions Mike. I didn't come to 'race'. I came to test the boat against the clocks. It's like in Drag Racing(NHRA), you can Red Lite or break out in qualifying, but not on 'Race' day. My mind set is for that. I don't even notice cars in the other lane unless it's for REAL. This wasn't for 'REAL'. I wasn't entered in any bracket or classification. I thought about stepping up after the course shut down, but didn't because of the starting problems and control problems with the reverse bucket as well as my lack of recent experience.
Thanks for allowing that my boat was faster on THIS weekend. It MIGHT NOT BE next time. HE was a better driver, but if I come back and gain experience again, THAT may change also.
4 races don't make a career, Mike. RR
P.S.
Please- no more license passes. Tnx, RR

I would have tried to cut a light????????????? why do you bring your boat to the races then??? I don't know who you are, what your boat looks like or even that you were paired up with me.
Put a car together???? why???? we are talking boats here. the list of excuses continues....
Put the pipe away, Crackhead(your excuse?) Bye Bye. RR

Fair enough. like i said i'm glad you came out. The more boats the better. hopefully you get the bugs worked out and run even quicker. The River Racer class is fun and perhaps the peanut gallery puts a bit too much emphasis on the grudge match aspect of it. I love seeing guys come off the river and run each other in the class like I did.
4 races?
license passes? not sure what you mean. If you are referring to your first pass where the rope deflector nearly took your scoop off...that was scary. glad you weren't hurt.

River Racer,
With all due respect, you are bringing on a lot of grief to yourself here. Usually when you have an entire board against you that is a sign that maybe YOU have a problem. I dont know you and I am not trying to judge you but maybe you should take a step back and look at what is bringing out all the animosity. From what I have seen, these guys in here have tried to offer up some constructive criticism but they are met with condescending remarks and calls out to go car racing. You make mention of the fact that you havent raced boats in years. A lot has changed in hardware and performance. I hope Im not coming off the wrong way ( I'm on some really good pain meds right now:D ) but maybe allow these guys to help you. They have all paid some heavy dues and are a collective wealth of knowledge. Good luck to you at the races. If you need anything come by our pit.

I had a great time on Sat seeing all you guys again. It was good to be there.
Jordy, your boat hauls ass!!! You did a great job on it. The Wight Night was looking mighty fine, and CS's 8.0 on Sat was pretty damn awsome for a completely clean sheet starting over. Morgan, you're just insane for running 8.0 in a gullwing. Too much, man! Good to see the guys from Gold Cup, and congrats on the win. Pretty impressive as well. Congrats fo Cyclone for going the distance, but man, you got Gremlins! :D :D Oh yeah, almost forgot. Congrats to Brule' too. Way to go old man. :D

4 races(the ones last weekend) is my experience in the last 22 years. Not much. I expect to get better if I keep coming. If not, I'll be at the River doing my thing. RR

Hi. I appreciate your thoughts and will digest what you've said. I try to keep up with most forms of racing, and know that you are at the pinnacle of achievement in this form of racing.
As a driver, you are one of the best. I have read other posts of yours and realize that your interests and knowledge spill over in to other areas. I respect you for that, and for your accomplishments as a driver and competitor.
Take care of yourself, and heal quickly Tony. The NJBA needs more guys like you representing, and competing, in it. Thanks for your thoughts. Dennis, RR
