Just got back from the dock. Had the "DIRTY SOCK" out for awhile this aft. The lake was pretty rough so no speed demon stuff today.
The mech. oil pressure gauge reads a constant 50 to 55 lbs. idling or opened up. The electric gauge reads a constant 80 to 85 lb. regardless of rpm. I'm running straight 50 racin oil. It's a little slow to come up when it's first started but I set it up so it doesn't get ignition until 30 ps. It only takes 1 crank to muster that.
I only ran it up to about 3500 rpm today. I'm setup for the holley and I don't think the secondaries are opening up on the Q-jet. The 750 will go back on this week.
I'm takin it easy (a little) on the new motor. Don't need that again.
Everybody stay groovy and I'll update as progress is made.

BubbleJet, You crack me up man!!!!
Those almost sound like MY words. he he he he
I'm hav'n s'more fun bigtime! Big walleye tournament on our little lake today and I KNOW the fishermen loved me!
Sleek 74
The motor is all new! Less than 2 hrs. right now! Thanks for the compliment!
The main and rod bearings were all double fitted by a local racin motor guy. The compression is 9 1/2 to 1. Its bored 40 over. I think a 461!
The cam is a comp, as memory serves me it's 518 lift, 220 duration, 110 overlap! Not real thumpy but I am shooting for reliability.
It,s the crane full roller rocker setup screw in studs etc.
Stock rebuilt heads. G's i think.
I have the HV, HP oil pump from Mondallar as well as the 8 qt Moroso pan.
The intake is the performer as well as a red 750 holley blueprinted and bench flowed to over 800 cfm. The holley is not on in the pics but will be on soon after some work..
Thanks for the interest!

Tough to see in this pic but here is my latest effort at dumping a holley in the round file. This was a couple of weeks ago out doing some tuning with the new Q-jet and HEI.
Had to fabricate the spacer to use this flame arrestor. no sweat.

Hey KC,
I don't know if it's worth all the time and money but it sure is fun!!!! :D :D
Now the insurance guy wants to come take pics. YIKES!!!!!
I told him it was 150HP! YIKES eek!
The boat has a tag rating it at 225 hp. Maybe he'll buy that! I HOPE!
Thanks BILL!!!!!!!! Did you get the pics thing goin yet?
Back Forty, the Q-Jet is a solid performer. My big high priced carb didn't work right so it was back to basics.
I gotta go figure out how to hide the motor from the insurance man. Any Ideas????????

Just go with that 225 hp rating and tell the guy that the engine is a nice stock rebuild. Then spend an hour bending his or her ear about your Quadrajet and how nice it is seeing stock items retained for "reliablity" purposes. wink
My title states 330 hp right on it. Thats all they need...
If the person has any doubt on their face start in on another hour long speech about the history of your boat. Just keep going until they are in their car and leaving. should get them out of your hair fairly quick.
