OK, I started the post for photo's of your jet boats, now lets see some photo's of your pumps. I don't care what condition they may be in or what stage in rebuild they may be in, let's just take a look at them. If you can, tell a little about your pump.
Here is my favorite part of my pump.

And if you don't already know, it's a converted Berkeley JC to JG which I just had coated by Eddie Marine.
Here is my old bowl/pump when I forgot to let the boat out before the water dropped in the middle of the night.

I don't have a pic to post right now, but I do have a question. Why do you guys with the cable steering always have extra lengths of cable looped up and zip tied? Is there a valid reason for the loops, or would it be cleaner to just cut the cable to length?

Jetmugg you do to have a pic.Hear is mine but the droop is polished and has a 3 dreg down wedge and the bowl and droop are dubble drilled now.Jake http://forums.***boat.net/image_center/data/521/1003_03.JPG

Is there a valid reason for the loops, or would it be cleaner to just cut the cable to length? You mostly see the cable steering like that on race boats, and I think when you move the pump/nozzle forward and back, you adjust the cable to have no slop in the steering. Also, I don't see it getting in the way and you would rather have too much then too little.

Its old and ugly but seems to work OK. It came with the boat when I bought it new in 1977. It has an A/B SS impeller. Have'nt done anything except add oil since.

Exhaust exits under water at idle but free flows at speed or when the boat is on plane. Ihad just never seen it done that way. Does someone manufacture that exhaust or did you come up with it. Is it much louder when cruising down the lake than when at idle.

Boy that aint no shit!!!!Modified headers that exit under the water line and trying to drag race a Jet Hydro that has been proven to not be a safe, nor fast boat to drag race with are WAY two different things...
Since you can't realize that, it's no surprise that your racing that thing because your thinking is "Other jets are fast, so this one should be fast too"

Here ya go Taylorman, it nice to see someone else who boats on lake with trees on the shoreline wink The swim platform aren't very functional with the OT's, my boat originally had TT's and an engine cover which is why the platforms are there. They still come in handy for beer/tool rests and a kneeling platform when working on the back of the engine/boat (but only when the headers are cool)

These are some really nice set-ups. I have a question though. I notice that alot of them are setback far enough so that the inspection cover into the impeller area, or in my case the watergrass removal cover, is outside of the boat. Is there a reason or is it better performance so set tham that far out? It makes sense to be able to take the cover off while you are in the water or you end up filling your back end, NO I DID NOT DO THIS. :D Just a curious question.

Is there a reason or is it better performance so set tham that far out? When I did my pump setback I it was suggested to me from several BIG PUMP Names not to blow through the Hull all the way (not for a River/Lake Boat) mainly due to the Hull integrity could be compromised (from rough water conditions etc.)and most likely would end up with a leaky boat.
Yes the further back the bitting edge of the Intake is the more of the hull could be freed from the water...but again this would be mostly benefit a true Drag Boat.
On my setback, the hand hole cover is 3/4 out the back, the Intakes as far back as it can go without busting through the Hull all the way...and with some good advice from Jack M.(thanks). I was able to create a custom Transom Plate that still allowe's me to remove the cover on the water....And I'm high and dry.

I had it done professionally and I just finished trimming it out.
I'm happy to say there are no leaks. I have some fuel issues to straighten out

substantial gains from it. I'm anxious to get it
