ailright guys i tore it down and gutted it....im doin a complete restoration/weight reduction every pound counts....im sure you already know especially RCB owners....i talked to roger and he said my 18ft weighs bare hull about 600LBS....so heres my plans im doin all new paint changing the white and orange to a black/ferrari yellow/pearl white, design kinda like RCB19'S boat, :) ,,then im still in questions to if i should take out the gas tanks and run one single clinder tank behind the seats...I threw away the old cocktail seating...and im jus runnin two fiberglass buckets....new carpet...and most importantly fuel level guage and fuel level kit....im sick of the old school stick in the tank method...now for the motor...i want a reliable yet fast river racer boat....so i got my bone stock 454 which ran 75MPH GPS HA HA....not bad.....but not fast enough....im doin the 496 stroker kit....new headers....some dart heads....nice cam still havent decided yet which would be good,,,,i want a huge loper...painting the block match the boat....tunnel ram two holley 660's....and fiberglass scoop....and some bad a** moroso valve covers...then sending my pump to MPD marine....where the magic happens....pump work and set backkk.....then its to the river for testing....i know that sounds like alot of money but all the interior and paint work is free i use to custom paint for a living and i got hook-ups on interior from a family member.....and i want to cap the hull.....does anyone know where a good place is to go to get the hull capped i took off the molding and now i have the holes from the rivets.....and also i have a hole in the dash where the guy before me took of the rogers emblem and put a radio there i want to glass it in and put the emblem back on..http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m177/DERBINDA909/IMG_0357.jpg

There's a guy in Montclair/Upland area that i'd go straight to for working on your Rogers. He's had a few himself, worked on a bunch and knows all about the quirks with those hulls. He can cap yours no problem.
TRG Custom Fiberglass. Ask for Todd.

If you plan on doing a set-back that requires bottom work and you would be better off to ask jack. I would go three (3) inches. I have done it myself and the results were outstanding.

Couple of notes......Fuel level guages never work right, I'd get a nice fabricated set of valve covers instead of the Moroso, I'd run 750 carbs and ditch the 660's, and I'd only let TRG do the cap and repair work on the hull.

I'd ditch the Moroso covers too. Thoughs fabricated ones are money but they look sweet!
Hey and while your at it, you might want to install a rail kit.
