I have a 98 Ford Exp.Eddie Bauer 4WD (just turned 100,000miles )and recently the rearend has been kinda of skippin or chattering when you go around a sharp turn after standing still. Only does it after it has been warmed up. Correct level and type of fluid in rear, u joints ok. I was told it was that the clutches are slipping in the rear. Could this be it or is there something else? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks..

Add some friction modifier to the fluid in the rear, this will sometimes help with older rearends. I would get the GM stuff it works great !!!

Feels like a chatter or shudder when turning. I had two Expeditions and both had the same issue with the clutches slipping. In my cases there was nothing that could be done they needed to be replace and I believe the cost was $500-$600 4 years ago.

Thanks for input, i was just checking to see if there were any suggestions. My mechanic told me that it would proably need new clutches, i trust him but i just wanted some more opinions... I would like to buy a new truck but i am a tight azz and i dont want a new payment right now (LOL). Plus i need the money for the upgrades on my boat. Thanks again..... CT
