Just recieved an e mail stating that all cell phones are going public tomorrow for telemarketing companies with a number to call in order to block. Anyone know about this????.....it is a scam?
Here is the e mail!
CALL TO HAVE YOURS AND OTHERS CELL PHONE NUMBERS BLOCKED.
Cell phone numbers going public tomorrow!!!!!!
REMINDER..all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies tomorrow and you will start to receive sale calls.

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222
It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time.
It blocks your number for five (5) years.
You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked.
You can not call from a different phone number.
HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS
It takes only 20 seconds. I've done mine already.

I put my phone on the do not call list months ago.
I think this list contains the first round of calls that will be made by telemarketers.

This made me think B.S. How would you be charged for an incoming cell call? What is this, the early 90's?

Read the date on the statement. I have started getting sales calls on my cell phone. So I put my cell phone on the do not call list. It takes 20 seconds and last 5 years.

I don't give out my cell phone number dor transactions... I give my old home phone number, and say I want to be contacted via email...
Since my cell number is unlisted and unpublished, the only way for someone to get it is for me to give it out.

The date of the release is 02/07. Do you expect the FTC to re-release the same statement month after month? Maybe they would just remove this one and post another???
Put all of your numbers on the DNC list..who cares? The OP quoted an email that has been circulating for a while that is just a scare. No marketers are calling any more than they were before.
I've had a few marketing calls on my cell phone, usually from cos. that I've done business with in the past. I tell them it's a Cell phone and don't call again, they never do.....YMMV.
