Last weekend I took my boat out to Lake Tapps. The lake was empty, 'cept for the 3 of us jet boats. We played around for a bit and BS'd. Just prior to getting off the lake, with both tanks LOW on fuel, empty cooler, cool dense air, and only my fat self behind the wheel I ran it flat out. My peeto (spelling???) speedometer showed a needles width over 100mph. I know it's not a GPS unit, but at 90 it reads right on the money compaired to my buddy's GPS unit. It may not be exactly right, but it should be damn close.
In any case I was stoked to see it reading the trips. I know I'll see them come this spring when I install my the chiller and more boost. I need to work on the set up a bit, as the tail was dancing a little.

Chris my Norskog pito tube speedo is within 1mph of my GPS every heat, so take it as 100mph. Good deal !:D

Out of curiosity...
Did we make sure the GPS was not on the eBay or the Craigs List setting? :D

Thanks guys !!! FYI, it's an Autometer speedo, not E-Bay/Craigslist (VERY funny post though :D ).
Jeff, about a good 25-30 second full throttle pass. Truth be told, it may of had a tick more, but when I looked down (for a split second!) and saw it in the trips I lifted :jawdrop:.

That's fantastic Droppy. As was mentioned above, you worked your azz off to get it going and after having the pleasure of seeing this boat in person the other day, the pictures of the work Droppy did DO NOT do this boat & him justice!!!

First off congrats. Our hi-end speedo was/is very accurate. it matches the radar gun and gps within 1-2 mph up to 100.
Secondly, more power isn't always the correct answer to going faster. The best answer to going faster is optimum set-up. I know it takes longer to figure out and it's not as flassy, but it is the best bang for the buck. Spend the time doing the hardware adjustments you'll be glad you did.
Jeff, about a good 25-30 second full throttle pass. :.
If memory serves me correctly a 10 second 1/4 mile jet boat runs about 100mph(i think) a 9 second 1/4 mile jet boat runs 105-110(i think, someone correct me if i'm wrong) Depending on how fast your boat accelerates a wide open pass for 25 seconds would take you(cover) approx 7/10th of a mile and a 30 second pass at 100 would cover nearly 9/10th of a mile.
Are you looking for top speed or acceleration? The set up will be different but you probably want to find the balance between the two. Here's an idea for you. 15 years ago I marked out an 1/8th mile and a 1/4 mile on the side of the river. The ribbons were there for most of the Summer and it was a great tuning tool. You can either mark the shore line with something or depending on how deep your lake is drop a couple of temp. bouyies(sp) and retrieve them when you're done tuning for the afternoon. With a gps you can mark a 1/4 mile much easier than I did 15 years ago with a stop watch and the speedo. (1/4mile= 60mph@15/sec).

Awesome! 100+ for the first season shows you know what your doing! and have some change hanging around to do it with. I think you have one or the only boats I would feel remotely safe at that speed in. Maybe I'll go for a hot lap next season. I hope we can all meet up on the river lots next summer and the earlier the better!!!!!!!!!!! I guess there is no chance for me keeping up with the south end crew next year.

Is it rude to ask how much burger that takes(21 daytona=100). Droptop or anyone. 900 or so? Sorry if thats too tacky just ignore me. Again congrats.

Hey H2O,
I justed bump another thread on the boat look at post # 37.
It's a bad a$$ piece that's fore sure.
The thread is "My Daytona Lives" and no, it is not rude to ask how much power, but don't ask how much money. Kind of like asking how much money on the first date. Something's you just don't do;)

How much ? LOTS !!!   . J/K, my engine will see the dyno over the winter to find out what it's really making, but a reasonable guess is 900, maybe 925 ??? I'm only running 5lbs of boost, but will be adding my new to me BDS Chiller over the winter. Hoping to bump the boost up to 10lbs. :D :D :D

Close enough .....I ran in the high 10's @ 98.9mph @ 5#
