I got the scanner on. fire approaching running springs now. there shutting off the power.

we've been watching it go across the mountains our back deck... it looks pretty bad up there... hope everyone gets out okay

I don't know why it means so much to me, but I hope my grandparents house makes it yet again. They sold it a couple of years ago, but the memories will last forever. :(

Just read that a house was reported burning on Wilderness which is Northeast of the CHP station.

I just looked at that address on google earth. It is no wonder why these houses are burning up so quick. You see much more trees than houses with trees surrounding the houses.

There's just not enough firemen up on the mountain right now. Commanders are saying on the scanners (http://old.rimoftheworld.net/incidents/3623&p=1 that San Diego is taking priority w/firefighters. One positive note, the wind up in the mountains is beginnig to subside and they're planning areal attacks at daybreak.

New fire hits La Jolla Reservation

LA JOLLA RESERVATION FIRE:
According to CALFIRE, a new fire is burning in the area of the La Jolla Indian Reservation. The fire was reported at 4:10 a.m. Several structures are burning. At least 150 acres involved. The reservation has been closed, and people are being evacuated to the Palomar Observatory. CALFIRE and U.S. Forest Service crews are battling the blaze.
California Highway Patrol Officer Alicia Contreras says the fire is burning along Poomacha Road near state Route 76. Several structures have goneup in flames, she says, and evacuees are being sent to Harrah's Rincon Casinoat 33750 Valley Center Road.

New fire east of the 15/215 north of devore. I hope it doesnt jump the 15 thats how we got hit a few years agoI think that fire started yesterday around 1 or 2 pm. My girlfriend at work couldn't get home because the 15 was closed going up the hill.

Wow! I spent every new years in just outside of running springs, in a little place called Arrow Bear. Our neighbors had a cabin on the south side of the lake facing the water. I hope it makes it.....:(

Looks like th fire wrapped around Running Springs near Heaps Peak. It's hitting homes in the "Nob Hill" and "Fredelba" areas of Running Springs. A flare of the fire is also heading back towards Skyforest, Cedar Glen, and Arrowhead.

My Parents lived up in Running springs for ten years. They were evacuated 3 or 4 times in that ten years because of fires. I finnaly convinced them to move because of thier health and it looks like it was just in time. There house is in the middle of the fire map. I hope all is well with their neighbors

A fire official an hour ago announced that they lost 100 houses in Running Springs last night.

On the news this am. Fire officials not having enough recourses to save the structures were breaking open garages and wheeling out cars, boats and whatever they could before the thing was a total loss.
So very sad.:(

Per phone conversation with USFS PIO Jim Wilkins, the fire came up on to Wilderness and burned several homes in upper Rowco. It crossed 18 and ran down Old City Creek. It jumped 330 to the north and east of Live Oak not below Live Oak. Some homes have been lost in lower Rowco.

Re: Interview with John Miller, USFS - Estimates the Slide incident to be approx. 4000 acres at this time. Priority at this time is structure protection in the Smiley Park and Running Springs area. Estimated containment is 5% at this time. Fire officials pulled resources from Green Valley Lake at 10 p.m. last night, and have been unable to access area since, due to road being blocked by fire. Miller added that a strike team from Malibu has just arrived and will be deployed to the Smiley Park area. The other area on which they are concentrating efforts is the area west of Lake Arrowhead, and the Twin Peaks area.
