I know that many of you have seen the devastating fire photo's, but here are a few from a relatively safe place. I live in Vista, with Vista High to the north of my home. We are relatively safe here, with the closest fire probably being 7-10 miles away. So here are a few of the "other" photo's you don't often see.
All of the following photo's were taken between 2:45 and 3:00 pm. This is the sun to the southwest of my home.

Here is a view to the East, and there should be a mountain within 2-3 miles as the crow flies.

Here is view to the North, with Vista High in the foreground, the far hillside being just north of Guajome Lake.

And for some reference, here is a view to the Southwest, with the Calaveras plateau in the center of the picture.

Here is some of the ash that has fallen on my patio. I know the picture does not do it justice, but the ash is about 1/8" thick in some areas!

This is a familiar scene in everyone's driveway. My driveway is very white/gray, it is not yellow at all!

My neighbor got home around 1:00, and this is what his car accumulated in about 2 hours!

Thanks for sharing, but unfortunately, photos don't do it justice. The look of the sky and the smell that premeates your clothes makes it all too real.

TT.. Great photos. Probably as good or better then what I have looked at so far. I had no idea the ashes were so bad. Having lived out there for 10 years from 85 to 95 I don't recall such fires over such a large area. Good luck to all on the clean up. Thanks for the pics. R.B.
