I heard that some of the early ones had some handling problems, but they have tweaked the bottom and the new one's run great.

Hey 69 Yenko,
Just took out the new Thor with 525 that hot boat tested with Ross @ Nordic. WOW!! No porpoise at any speed best as I can tell, But the turning at 70 MPH+ was fantastic. Inside lean, no skip, no slide.
You need to contact Jeff@ Nordic for demo!:D

How does you Mach 22 run with that setup? I assume you have the 377 with a whipple?

Ill tell you what i love this boat it is the best handling cat i have ever been in and i have been playing with a few different props and pullys and it seems to like the 7lbs pully with a lab 32, pulsl hard all the way to 6000 rpms @ 104mph i have a 10lbs pully that i have ran but it needs race fuel and i think i could really run some good numbers. Its a great boat. Just had dustin @ whipple put a custom tune in it for me about 3 weeks ago it really made a huge differance. So thats the deal, It also only has about 50 hours on the boat. Its spotless

We have two instock. The all new 2008,with a 525 runs 92+mph on gps. And we have an 2007 walk through open bow.
The 525 boat runs and handles perfact. This boat also has an complete fiber glass linner in it. The 2007 open bow has an 496ho in it. With the more wight up front the boat handles perfact.

Not trying to start crap, but I find it hard to believe that a walk thru 525 runs 92MPH+

No maybe that came across wrong. The walk through has a 496ho,and runs in the mid 70's. The 2008 closed deck runs 92 all day.

Not arguing, but I still find it hard to believe, but that is great if true closed bow or not. Must be running a real big prop and it must be a slug out of the hole and not have much mid-range pop. I would like to see it in person run that.

Thank you for the offer, but I would not have time to do that. I am not hating I actually really like the 27 Thor, but when you say it will run 92+ all day that is not true in real world conditions with a 525. Maybe like I said earlier with a BIG WHEEL on it not ideal for regular load and performance and light on fuel and in cool conditions. Not everyday all day in your normal Havasu weather.

Ok not a big deal and this is the last I will say about this. I find it hard to believe because if the walk thru with an HO does mid 70's how does a 525 with 75 more HP get you another 18-20+ MPH especially if they were laid up exactly the same? If you say because it is a closed bow vs. a open bow great, but that may account for 2-3 MPH even if it was 5mph that means you would still be gaining too much for only 75 more HP. Again, I am NOT a HATER. I LIKE the boat I just find the #'s hard top believe in everyday conditions.
I talked with the guy that had the red one (Pfaff 800) in the channel in Havasu and he said it did not put up the #'s claimed under normal conditions. Yes I know the bottom has been tweaked since then.

Mike I agree with you 100%! I think once you load in ice chests, anchors, stereo equipment, fuel, etc. that number is quite high. Not to mention I wouldn't guess Oregon to have a 110-120* days durring the summer which we all know cuts a good 3-5 off the top MPH. I think without all the above mentioned it might run in the 90's but not everyday. My 26' Daytona MIGHT see 90 on a cool/cold day with light fuel, no passengers and all the junk taken out of it. I would call it an 85 mph everyday boat but not 90.
I also agree with you that is a sharp looking boat.

I would also have to agree. They are very nice looking boats, however I dont see 90's all day with the factors that were given above. With my boat empty on a HO I am running about 76, and with it full on a hot day high 60's.

We have the boat that was tested by Hot Boat. It runs consistantly in the high 80's w/ 525, low fuel and 2 bodys. It is faster than the same equipped Daytona by about 5 mph. We'll make a deal to anyone wanting this boat!

I have several Daytonas and my little 22 with a 525 smoked the red thor with the big Paul Poof motor in rough water without even straining. 525 is a great motor ,the hull well just ask Thane who built it.

Our's doesn't. I believe the Hot Boat test it ran 91-92 with one body. We are getting 88 at our 300' above sea. The boat drives nice and feels very solid. Just needs big power. Iv'e never seen anyone turn big numbers with a Thor. We haven't taken the time to do a big motor in one yet. We are still kinda stuck on the Daytona around here. Tried and true you know. Maybe a winter project.

The 2008 model i have instock does run 92 with people fuel. Anyone that has interest in a new 27ft cat that really runs 92 with a 525 in it call me.
I have already said that if the boat does not run like i said. I will cover there air fair, and give them $500 cash for their time.

I think what the point everyone is trying to make is that once you load the boat up with coolers, people, anchors, stereo equipment, etc. and run it with full tanks and in 120* heat you aren't gonna see that 92mph everyday. Probably more like 85mph is a lot more realistic (still very respectable) with the above scenario. No one is saying its not a killer looking boat...just not realistic to run 92 everyday.

This thread started ,by asking for reviews of the 2008 Nordic Thor. We have a new 2008 instock.
My review , this boat runs and handles great. Top speed 92+ mph, with fuel, life vest, ropes, fenders, and three people on board. No handling problems at all.
With that being said,if you or anyone has interest in a 2008 Nordic Thor cat ,you owe it to yourself to test drive one.
(And my offer still stands)

The early boat had a porpose at about 70 mph. The late 07' we have seams to be much better. Nordic did put tunnel tabs on it to help. 5 blade prop is the key.

man go easy on the guy.... he never said in havasu, pigged out with gear and peeps and backed his offer with at least two in the boat, on his turf- reasonable enough. Cat's have a big swing, common knowledge. Oh yea, the merc 525's dyno at 540/560 on a regular basis where the ho hits 420/425 pretty consistently so there should be a bigger swing. I know on the 30' Daytona I run 94 best so far with ho's and my bud with the open bow version runs 90 and his 90 was in way better conditions (I was in the boat). there's a few left in my 30 with the right wheels and more favorable conditions- I see an easy 6-7 mph real number spread just from open to closed bow all else being equal

Hey OCM-looks like some can't (read won't) hear the truth no matter what "deal" your willing to make. I drove the 525 boat in Havasu @ 88 MPH turning 5050 RPM. There was still more but I wasn't sure of the "channel" opening going up river so I backed out. I'll be at the factory next week and can get packingguy a ride. So you up to it?
Bullhead bully, while I'm there you may want a ride to. The fresh air will do you some good. If you can't make it at least open a window to let all that smoke out. LOL

That was funny:rolleyes: Like I stated I like the boat and I am sure it runs well. I am not interested in the boat nor do I care to take a ride. My comment was because he said it would run 90 MPH anytime all day. Under the normal conditions I do not see that (heat, fuel, and people). It may run 90, but who wants to boat by themselves with no fuel, or coolers etc. Like stated before not a hater. This horse has been beat enough let it die now:)

Well the new Hot Boat came out and the test is in. They tested the 27 Thor. Very nice piece, but just like I thought this one with the 525 did not run
92+ all day. It ran a very respectful 86.1 MPH@ 5240 rpm's, but this is also with a $25,000 layup (Nordics Raceboat Laminate) 3900 lbs. With that said a standard layup will definitely not see 92+ let alone 85. Maybe I should have taken that offer OCM:) :D Nice write up though and like I said earlier nice piece.

Got it. I knew there had to of been a misprint:) :D BTW if it did run that great that is not standard layup like I had posted before. Standard layup that boat would not run near those speeds. With that said. Your standard out of the mold hull will not run those speeds with a 525. It will maybe if you want to spend the extra $25,000 for the "Raceboat Laminate" We need to compare apples to apples with your competitors.
