A friend of mine just bought a 2007 24' Cheetah Stiletto. He loves it, but it is slow. He rode in my boat, really liked the ride and speed and now he wants a cat. He already has his Cheetah sold, so he is really shopping.
He is interested in the new Trick 25 coming out (should be around that 100k mark:confused: ), but it may not be ready in time for him to get on the water by next summer.
He wants to stay under that 100k mark, under 26feet, and over a 100mph (of course). What options are out there besides the Trick, Liberator (I think they can be had for around 100k) and used?
Thanks in advance.

Used or new? Most new west coast 25-26ft cats with twin 250's are going to be north of 100K...
I would go used and a get a DCB F or Mach 26 with 300x or 2.5's in the 75-80ish range and call it good.....The Eliminator 25, 26, and DCB 26 have all been dialed in by either manufacture with twin OB's and are very nice and manageable lake boats..just my .02.

He talked to Eliminator. All he told me was they were WAY north of 100k..LOL
Is the Liberator splashed off of the 24foot Skater?

If we are talking about the 25 I would assume so...there used to be a guy on the boards with a 24 Skater skater with twins that ran pretty good...and took rough water....Just seems the 21 and 24 Skaters tend to be more drivers boats and a less forgiving with turning then a center pod cat...Depends on what his priorities out of the boat are...
If you are boating on the west coast then you really have to consider re-sale value when selling a mid west or east coast boat on the west coast. With used, you can get into a bigger boat, let someone else take the depreciation hit, and when you get rid of it, you can sell a west coast custom here much easier then you will be able to sell a mid west or east coast splash cat...just my .02. Again it depends on your friends priorities...

If he does not mind a deckboat I am sure JW at Ultra could set him up real nice right now with a twin O/B 26 Shadow:idea:

That would be sweet. Have you guys ever rigged one with twin O/Bs? What speed would that thing run with 250s or 300s?
I will let him know.

I thought about Cougar as well, but I am sure they are over that 100k mark. Don't hold me to it.

They have rigged a couple 21 decks with singles, but no 26's yet. I think the boat would run REAL GOOD with outboards. I really want to see one done. Call down to JW.

I too would recommend a DCB Mach 26 with the outboards and I would go USED if possible. There are some killer deals out there. I just recently saw a 2001 or 2002 DCB Mach 26 with 2.5s (280) for $53K. Thats a steal considering to duplicate that boat today would be $125K+, and if you bling it out it would be close to $150K.
As for new, I would love to see a Ultra 26 Deck also with twin O/Bs.

I would talk to WILDMAN about a 25 Liberator you get a Skater bottom and with twins it should run very well. The price should make budget quite easy with room to spare.

I'll sell him a New 2008 25 Liberator with twin 300XS motors on a tandem aluminum trailer for about $95,000. Should pull 34" cleavers to the limiters at 113-115 mph. Here's the link. http://liberatorfl.tripod.com/id4.html

The white and green one is in stock with a Kiekhaefer tunnel tab, 800 watt stereo and used 300 Promax 300's for $74,000, or $92K with new 300XS motors.

LOL, selling him mine was a consideration. He loves it and I love your boat but I am not ready to go to bigger boat yet. We will be ready in 2 more seasons. 26-32feet is what I want ;)

My friend looks like he is going to get a Trick 21 as well. Jeff says the 25 may be way off for his time frame. He loved the way mine rode and ran, and feels it will be more than enough boat for him. I can't wait to see it done. :)
