Im currently running a 2000 20' sutphen 210SS with a bone stock Mercruiser 350 magnum 250hp carburated engine. The alpha drive is spinning a 21" Mirage Plus 3-blade at 46-4800 rpm. My best run has been 63 mph on gps trimmed out and loose.I'd love more speed...any suggestions?? also, any sutphen folks out there??

Sutphenman,
buy, a faster boat. Sorry, I didn't mean that.
In order of trial from you, try first a 4 blades prop.. Then install good manifolds. Then install a Holley 750 cfm, double pumper mechanical secondaries. Then add a good intake manifold. Whipplecharger or Procharger (I'm not racist) will also give you speed and will still make your engine last if you use them with your head.
Sorry, I don't own a Sutphen, but the hints are still good.

Sutphenman:
Sounds like great speed to me! I'm running the same motor/drive config on an 1989 22'Scarab and saw 58 on the GPS with a full tank of gas... I'd say just run around on a 1/4 tank, and you'll probably hit 67MPH. Otherwise, just whipple the motor... it'll be the best bang for the buck.

Sutphenman, your speed sounds fine to me.If I'am not mistaken you have a deadrise 22 or 24 degrees like Donzis. If you push your hull past 65,you may experience chinewalking that's inherent in the type of hulls like yours. The bigger Sutphen's don't have this problem but I've seen a lot of Donzis in the seventies, had this problem 20 feet and under.Trimtabs did help in these cases.
