I was hopping someone here has either done this or know someone who has.
I was thinking about having my cylinder heads and engine block powder coated.

Hey, the mouse is back! Not sure of a color yet. Maybe a lolliepop blue and some grey chrome. I would like to do yellow but I don't have any yellow on the boat. Yet.
Got my new trailer today. I'll post picks later. Engine should be done early next week.
You gonna do the counter top at my parents house?
We will be there Thanksgiving weekend, see you at the tree lighting ceremony at the pines.

is there a problem with heat on powder coating i know it does not like a lot of heat. that sounds like a great idea

I would guess the powder coat is good for at least 350-400 deg, i think they bake it somewhere in the 300's, far hotter than your heads or block should be getting.

It turns out it can be done. It is labor intensive though. A 3 part candy blue for the heads and block will cost somewhere close to $1400. OUCH!:jawdrop: For a single part enamel look, cut the price by half:jawdrop: .
Powder coat does start to loose its solid state at 350deg so it will work great if you have the funds. He quoted me yesterday to do my block, heads, valve covers, intake man and some small brackets, $2k cash. Looks like I'll be sticking to the rattle can for now:(
