Again, why?
Because if you get hit with an SUV you will be like a pinball going down the freeway.

They are fun little cars. I rode in one when was working in Zurich Switzerland.

What are the fuel economy ratings?
It is miserly...
It gets roughly 40 miles per gallon and requires premium gas.

If was an econobox that gets good mileage you should try and find an old 1986-1988 Honda CRX. Those little things got about 51 mpg

Have had one on order for months, expect to get it in early Jan '08. Will use it for beating around town, Nancy goes shopping at least 6 times a day, she'll use the Smart Car. Drove one while the factory was touring them around the US, it was fun. The only way the first ones will come is with 3 cylinder gas, (maybe Suzuki?) 5 speed auto, power windows and A/C. I want to be the first on my block to have one. Got my license plate already, look out for:
A SMART 1

Forget about the Smart car . They sold about 10.000 in Canada since its debut . All of the nerds who wanted them got one already :) .They'll hold on to them until they fall apart :D
The real McCoy is coming out by Mitsubishi .
Electric car with 200 km range per charge with promising performance given by its 3 motors that runs on 330 Volts . Two 20 KW motors for the front wheels with 180 footpounds of torque helped by another 132 footpounds kicked in by the rear motor . Being a small car it should give pretty good performance in city driving .

Well if you don't mind losing the 2nd seat? You could always do something like this to it, to make it a little more "fun"
