I'm wanting to run an alternator in a boat that runs the drive shaft off the front of the motor. I want to run an MSD so I need a charging system. I'm thinking of putting some kind of pulley atached to the flywheel which is at the back of the boat. Has this been done? Does anyone make an attachment/ power take-off? Any PICS?

Check the Rex Marine catalog they have a couple of different set ups for running an alternator of the flywheel

Rich,
I would have to make something to adapt to the flywheel but if you want to get rid of that set-up I may be interested.

That is a pretty cool deal because there are no belts. This is what we put on Rons boat when we went to the MSD.

Was the adaptor to the flywheel an off the shelf part or somthing you made?

Bergeron makes an adapter that bolts to your flywheel with a pully machined into it.
Nice piece.

Here is a shot of mine.
I added the jilmer pulley for the fuel injection.

Rons motor is sitting in the boat the same as your Vector so that was just like the one in the earlier photo. Morgs deal looks pretty sweet too. Depending on how far forward your engine is you may be able to use a cog style drive and not need a belt if you wanted to go that route.

Morg,
Thanks for the info. That is a clean drive and pulley.
