SKiing is dead around here. I try to get out at least three times a week. And usually it is only us out there skiing.

You either have to go out first thing in the morning or travel down to the dam during the summer or otherwise your life or kids life is in danger :jawdrop:

Back in the day we waterskied behind my parents flat bottom V-Drive
and beached camped on the island.
Looks the days are gone but you can still ski your brains out when the water is flat

I have skied Havasu for 30 years, but the amount of boats has made it dificult at best. Now the water is cold and all are gone. I generally ski closer to the dam and get out tuesday through Friday morning.
A nice good workout is from the dam to Copper Canyon.

If you think you've done it ALL behind a boat, you may want to consider one of these:D This is my boyhood pal Mike Murphy, he's not too bad ...... for a 60 year old guy:rolleyes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahKeh0e3EwA

We do our LH Waterski/Wakeboard runs down at the Springs/Take-off point.
Fewer PWC's to contend with lots + less boat traffic coming from all directions.

Looks can be deceiving, but is that hard to do??? And where can one of those be purchased? My son is into wakeboarding, but that looks like something I might like to try.

My turns dont seem to be as sharp behind that boat! Plus I am officially boatless! First time in a loooong time. Spectre is now a Canadian resident!

If I only had A scanner I could show pics of havasu from the dam to the bridge of nothing but glass, but this would be back in the mid 70's and I have skied the run from the BML to the bidge and back. 11 miles each way. Those were the days!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mark

Growing up in Havasu a group of us would ski about 3 times a week before we had to go to high school. Up at 5 a.m. and on the water at 5:30 then roll in to school with wet hair and 18 foot Challenger OB in tow. Back then Jim Hoover who owned the Nautical ski shop used to set up bouys up near the entrance to the gorge a few times a month. Those were the days.......

The worst part is we can't get it back. Copper cayon was called disneyland and Big Ed was buying the london bridge and shipping it piece by piece to havasu, only to create what we have to deal with today. I moved from the strip at parker to get away from the ego maniacs that run havasu today. I'll be back at the strip soon enough. As long as they keep up the fight to keep a boat length on the parker strip, God willing and the river doesn't rise.
