Here is your price.
I have 4 Choc females --$600
1 Choc male -- $500
4 black females -- $300
1 black male --$300

I know everyone wants the female chocolates, so I try to give my friends first crack at those. Last litter I had two and one was sold before it was born and the second by two weeks. Both to HB peeps. Then when I ran the ad in the paper and on the AKC site, I had about 75% of the people call looking for choc females. When I said I didn't have anymore, they hung up. That really ticked me off because they are all great dogs. Color shouldn't matter. Bigots
LOL :D
Also, there are two types of Labs. The heavy English style and the leaner American Hunting style. Mine are the American Hunting style with Field Champion and Master Hunter lines. If you like hunting, that's what I breed and there's a great training facility right here in So Cal at Prado Dam area. But they make great housepets and boat dogs also :D

Labs are the greatest dogs you could own. I am on my fourth and would not change breeds for the world. Browns are alittle rare and bring a better price just like a real white. And we are talking dogs here.

We have had a white( she was completly insane), a brown(current bitch) and the Black male we have now. IMHO our black lab is the best dog I have ever had. Angie likes her brown bitch better, but the black stud is my all time favorite.:D ( go ahead add it to your sig line)
He will steal your beer if you set it down, funny we never could train him to get one out of the cooler. He used to to fetch the paper in the morning till he figured out he was working. Now he just looks at you, and imply's you go fetch. He is a loyal dog.

My buddy had his lab trained there and he's incredible. Like watching TV but he's right there and the dog is incredible in what he can do... If he doesn't go I always ask him for the "keys" to his dog... :D

Mine yellow hunts Coors Light, the black (hidden on a chair - hates water) just want's to be scratched. Mine are the bigger english labs, but have lost a bunch of weight since we picked up a 5 acre property. I may be interested in the chocolate male pup - is there a time / day we could see them?

:( That always sux.
I haven't hunted with them. I've always wanted to have my male trained and show him in the field trials, since that is where his breeding is (quite a few FCs, AFCs and MHs), but never had the time.
The male is 75 pounds and the female is 65 when not pregnant/nursing. If you show up now she'll look like the dog on Pirates of the Carribean :(

Actually, all she did is wag her tail, roll over, and fart... but that's about as excited as she gets other than meal time or a ride in the boat...
Labs are great dogs, and the ones that come out of the Sportin' Wood dogs are the best that I've seen in a long while. Fantastic tempermant, good blood lines, no health issues, and a nice sized dog...
Alley also says Hi to Roxy... :D

Ok, some lab info................my runt yellow female goes into heat the same time every year (the 2nd week of November) If I bred her, when would she have the puppies? I want every color so what color do I bred her with? Is it bad to bred her back to her dad (sounds terrible):jawdrop:

The only way to get every color is to breed 2 blacks. Yellow is a recessive gene. She will only throw yellow. There are only 2 color genes with labs. Yellow and Chocolate. Both are recessive meaning the dog must have both yellow genes to show yellow. Both chocolate genes to show chocolate. If the dog has both recessive, the default color is black. So my black male throws 50% brown genes and 50% yellow. My choc female throws all choc (because that's all she has). So the pups that Hunter throws the yellow gene to, show up black. So, realistically, 2 black dogs could throw choc/choc, yellow/yellow and choc/yellow (black). If you were to breed her to a chocolate, all puppies would have one gene from each parent, and all be black.

And Community, they are not the block head English type. They are the American Hunting style.

I think a puppy under our christmas tree is out of the questions :( They are adorable! I think the labs are the bes, we'll I think I say that about all my dogs but Lacey is so great to have everywhere we go. I don't have to worry about her around other people or kids. She just wants to get her pets and love from EVERYBODY! Today Sean was working on the jeep and she was laying on the driveway on her cord and he heard her "talk" and he looked up and our neighbor who watchers her when we go on vacation wanted to come say hi to her. Her but was going so fast he said and she told Sean if you EVER can't keep her I will take her in a heart beat, I just love her. He said I don't think that's going to happen :D We have a few neighbors and friends say that about her... Labs just love people and have such a wonderful temperament. When our friend first brought ther brand new baby to the desert a few weeks ago she walked up to the baby in the swing, just did a good sniff, and walked away. The non dog lovers freaked out, the parent has a lab and could care less cuz she knows she just wanted to see him and sniff what it was. So cute! Plus they LOVE Water :D Gotta have a dog that loves water right :D Well I'm sure these puppies will make wonderful xmas gifts! I love them as puppies w/ their squished faces! So adorable!

That reminds me of a story. The first lab we had, a white, we got about 2 years before Katrina was born. She was Jeff's dog. Followed him everywhere, slept under his side of the bed, you get the picture. I didn't really notice the change until after the baby was born, but sometime during my pregnancy, she began sleeping under my side of the bed and entering every room before I did (she had been trained to enter after us). Whenever I was carrying the baby into a room, she had to enter first (I assume to check it out). She went back to sleeping on Jeff's side of the bed eventually. . . until the second pregnancy, and then the same protective behavior came back. It was pretty cool.

A dog's pregnancy is 63 days long. The bitch usually concieves betwen the 9th and 11th day of her heat, so you can od the math from there.
MMSW explained the color thing better than I could have. My yellow sired four litters, three with a yellow female and one with a choc. Each time there was seven pups and they all were the color of the bitch.
Line breeding isn't uncommon, it is how the breed came to fruition. Having said that, I wouldn't do it. There are many studies that suggest it increases genetic abnormalities such as bad hips and eyes.
Good looking pups, wish I had it in me to take one off of your hands...

cockblocker! or . . . . labblocker! I'm trying to sell some dogs here :D
For the record, mine were never destructive, but many are. We have a large yard (understatement) and they got to come in the house at night through the adolescent age. So they were happy. Plus, I experimented with lots of different kinds of chew toys until I found one each liked. Maybe I was lucky, I don't know.

If you were to breed her to a chocolate, all puppies would have one gene from each parent, and all be black.
That's exactly what happened to us. We bred our yellow with the neighbor's choc, and we got all black. Now I heard the black pups are twice as likely to throw the choc pups. Any truth to that?

This is the trick...chew toys...and keep a big supply stocked. Cow toes worked great because they last a day or two. I'm sure the pups will all be gone by December 24th:D :D :D

That's what worked for us. The hoofs with a rope through them. He liked the challenge of getting it off the rope. Then he was done with it. She never really got into chewing anything. Pig ears are good for a while, but once all the permanent teeth come in, they last about 2.3 minutes.

My male is Hunter also. Stoney's Kodiak Hunter. Kodiak and Hunter were both in his lineage and our ranch is "Stoney Knoll Ranch." The female is "Stoney's Whistlin' Dixie."
UltraLucky is coming out Saturday to check out the Choc male. I doubt he'll be around long. Most people ask $800-900 for the chocolates.
I'll keep you in mind if it doesn't work out, though, and I still have him come mid-dec.

Per other thread....looks like Shake your ass got the last black female! It's so exciting to know that we are all going to see each other's dogs grow up together....around the river and such! We should eventually get a small group together to meet up at the river in a year or so down the road, for a dog reunion...and of course a peeps trip!

Just now getting up and about. We picked up Satine yesterday, the drive home was fine. No vomit and no bathroom problems. Our little one is up every 2 hours. She is eating well, and already knows where to pee and poop. One accident so far. When she smells her food she cries and howls, and jumps all around because she can hardly wait to get it. Dave took pics, so I will have him post them soon!
All the puppies are so cute, and well a justed. Chat with you all soon!

We picked up ours "Sienna" at noon today. So far no accidents and she knows what the grass is for, which is too cool. Right now we take her outside about every half hour until we get used to her actions. Not looking forward to the waking every 2 hours thing but we will cope. These dogs are absolutly adorable and seem to be well trainable.
Hope we can have a family reunion at the river.

Our baby is home too!!!! We had a 4hr drive home to lake havasu with not ONE accident or even whine!! I was sooo impressed!!
We took a chocolate female for my coworker... she also did great on the drive no accidents OR whining... of course they had eachother in the kennel, so I'm sure that really helped!!
My coworker named her "Scout"... short for Girl Scout!! Its cute!!
My puppy remains nameless... I'm starting to like "Lola"... cause trust me whatever this puppy wants she gets!!! LOL
She is really loving my current lab, and my lab is sooo excited... you should have seen my lab... she is guiding her everywhere! Where to potty... how to get in the house... its great!! The puppy was scared to go through the door way... so my Lab literally went in and out 6 times to show her... then finally nudged her with her nose... and the puppy came in!! It was adorable!!!
Still no accidents in the house!! SO were doing great! But I too take her out every 20-30 mins just in case!
Its adorable to watch her get excited for food!! This is one GREAT addition to my clan!!!

That is great to hear, Monika. Glad to hear everyone's happy so far. The last one here is lonely. She's got a little crate though, and she'll go into it on her own. I don't have any toys though, I think I'm going to have to go get her some kind of ball or something today. She wants to play. Hopefully someone will take her home this week.
