I go through stages , I'm in my lowered truck stage currently. I have a Chevy crew cab dually as well. It is 5/7 dropped with bags on the rear.I would like to go with a lifted Ford for the next daily driver/tow truck.

My current tow truck is a 3/4 1994 Suburban (stock), but I prefer lowered. I have had 2 lowered 1/2 ton XCab Chevys (both 4 & 6) with air bags. Some of the raised 4X4's look good, but I never could understand why anyone would raise a 2 wheel drive truck. Nothing looks better than a lowered Chevy Dually.

I put all my money in my boat :-)
Tow/family rig is a 95 Grand Cherokee..would be cool with some tires & wheels on it. Work truck is an 84 Ford 16' cube van.
But nothing looks as good to me as a slightly dunked 64/65 or mid fifties Chevy pickup.

Omega21, this is my last second series I did, and my favorite too. I sold it to my ex before she was and now I have no idea what happened to it. Still have a few parts around if you ever need.

Have a 97 x-cab chev. on air, lays flat on 17's without the bed cut, no tanks or compressors in the bed. Ole lady drives a 99 reg cab chev on 18" boyds, it is 5/7. My last 3 rides have been slammed, but I'm looking to sell my truck in favor of a lifted one. Gotta love them 65/66 chevy's though. I will have one some day.

I would prefer a lowered over lifted but I do like lifted rides though. I have a 91 nissan hardbody fully slammed on hydraulics. I have 2 pumps and 5 batteries and 8 switches.I will be switching to 3 pumps and 10 batteries with full set of chains for hopping and a stand still 3 wheel motion. I am looking to get a new 1/2 ton so I can bag it on 20's.

I like em low, but too far down causes rough rides and problems towing. I can't afford to do anything with my Avalanche yet.

I have a lowered ext cab dually and I love it, but it's time for a lifted truck. I'm tired of hitting everything. Heck, where I mostly go boating (Eco Lodge) they just installed a new speed bump at the exit of the park, and with the bags full, I still drag the frame over it. That sucks. Looks cool towing the boat though.

My first truck was an '83 GMC Sierra 1500 slammed 5/7 with custom paint, tweed interior, full system, detailed undercarriage, etc. My last truck was a 1990 GMC standard cab shortbed with full air ride suspension, 18's &20's, bright red with ivory flames, leather and tweed upholstery. It was on the cover of the March '02 issue of Truckin' Magazine. After owning two hammered haulers it was time to go the lifted route. Got tired of slowing down for everything, high-siding in driveway's, killing my frame and suspension. With airbags although they are great for shock value you have to worry about blowing a bag, severing a line, etc. which are not things that are fun to fix on the way to the river. I would like to build another 73-87 Chevy/GMC or a 67-72 Chevy/GMC but it will be an extra truck just used to cruise and show. Although it is sometimes a pain the convenience of air suspension is great for going over road obstacles. My new truck is a '95 Chevy x-cab two wheel drive with a 7-inch Fabtech susp. lift and 33" muds. Lifted is better for launching when you have to bury the back of your truck to get the boat in the water.

Although I like the look of a lifted truck, I am not sure I would want to drive one. My truck has been dropped 5/7 on 17" Colorado Customs. Safe to say, I dig the lowered stuff a lot.

My personal feeling is that you lower cars and raise trucks.

I agree with HBjet they look cool towing with, but it was a rough ride even with air bags in the rear. This is my old truck with a 5"/7" i painted it to match the boat. Now i'm in a 4x4 Chevy Tahoe with a lot better ride, but doesn't look cool towing the boat anymore. Oh well i guess it's either look cool or smooth ride? I'll take smooth ride!

I can't believe you guys have a rough ride towing W/ a lowered truck. Mine rides great pulling a boat or a car trailer w/ a 5000lb. car on it. My old 95 was lowered 5/7 and It rode as good as my 97 that is bagged. Some of you guys are worse than the redneck farmers that I deal with everyday, thinking trucks shouldn't be lowered. J/K :D

I am a writer and photographer for Truckin' Magazine and have had lowered and bagged rides. Nothing is wrong with the way they ride. If a kit is used for lowering using coils and spindles it's all good. I endorse Air Ride Tech. components for air susp. I just got tired of going slow over everything so my '95 Chevy I decided to go up with. Check out my last slammed ride on the cover of the March '02 issue of Truckin' mag.

If it's a 2wd chevy it needs slightly lowered. If it's a 4wd anything it needs to sit high.Don't lift 2wd's and don't put sissy little street tires on a 4wd truck that was meant to have fun in the mud.2cents

Nothing wrong with lifting a 2wd. Some people just want the look and don't intend to go railing their truck.I think my next ride will be a late 90's two door Tahoe dropped 5/7 with 18-inch Billet Specialties. I have always dug those things slammed with everything color matched.

Need lifted trucks if you go to Apache Lake here in AZ 12 miles of dirt narrow sometimes washed out rough rocky curvy sandy road. (why the hell do I keep going there) Roll a 90 F350 Crew Cab 4wd 460ci for now, ready to switch back to a Chevy but hard to find 4wd single axle 1 tons. Got to keep with the big blocks also to pull about total 25-30 miles of 8% grade hill to get there from here.

i dont understand how you guys with bags on your trucks keep saying you get a rough ride? my truck is fully bagged with 4 link rear susp. and it rides just like a caddy. and you guys are right nothing looks better than a slammed dually. glad to see that most of you are into the lowered truck scene than the lifted.

My truck lowered tows like a caddy. I can't even tell the boat is behind me. The only time my truck lowered rides like shit is when I'm not towing, and I hit some bump in the road, and the whole bed rattles. Other then that, it rides better then any lifted truck I've been in. My only complaint is scrapping everything I go over. It was cool when I just bought the truck out of high school, but I'm just over that now!
I think I'll go from this...

Personally I've had most of my previous vehicles lowered but not that I have my Suburban the way I want it. I can't even imagine ever driving a lowered vehicle again why its completely useless.

I just checked the encyclopidia - 2wd trucks should be lowered, 4wd trucks raised. That's the rule. :D
