I was just messing with one last night. It's the pass side front. And Ford numbers the rest different too. Pass side is 1-4, driver side 5-8.

If fords are number one then why did mine just start at the lake run for 2min and when I brought up the rpm to 3000 it sputtered and died???
Now the D#@M thing won't start again since
I have spark and fuel but no go I think it might be the new cap and points??

I think the Ford just did not like being fed last years gas!!
I hooked my electric fuelpump line into a 5 gallon jug of gas I bought yesterday for the four wheeler and vroom!! Away she went!
I just finished emptying about 20 gallons out and now its time for a fill up and the river!
Also I will try the pass side for the number 1 cylinder for the timing light! Might work a little better that way!!

F*(&er Only Runs Downhill....
which is awful hard to do on a lake :-) And yes I can say that from experience. Drive a 460 every day...

I have never cared much for Ford stuff, too many designs that don't share parts, etc. I have abused the 460 in my boat for years, all I can say is the 385 series Ford engines are extremely durable, parts are plentiful and reasonably priced, and respond well to mods. I don't feel there is any disadvantages to running a 460.

I would have blown up a Chevy long ago.....I am a Chevy man by heart but I have had my boat for three years now and every summer I try to blow it up. Maybe nitrous will do it. All I have to say is bulletproof. I still like Chevy's though. I guess I really just love big blocks.

I understand I too am trying to abuse the 460 ford every year for the last 3 and the thing keeps surprising me and lasting!
I told myself I wont drop the cash on a chevy until the Ford dies, looks like it might be awile.
That's alright as long as I am on the water havin fun!
