Anyone have welds crack on their boat trailer? I just noticed 5. My trailer is a 2000. Looks to me like I have a new project coming up.

Yea, it comes from sorry ass welders who don't know what penetration means. The weld should be stronger than the material so aside from you severly bouncing your trailer down the road, the trailer should come apart before the weld does.

Or some JB weld? lol
Yeah this sucks... I guess Im lucky i didn't hit a pot hole on the 40 at 70mph.. I think I would've destroyed the trailer. All the cracks are on one side too. I think a previous owner backed it into a wall or something at one time. You can see some Mickey Mouse bondo work on the same side that the cracks are on. And there is spots of primer around the cracked welds. I think the trailer was fixed on that one side by some shitty welder. I'm gonna have to go through the whole thing.
I kinda wanted to paint my trailer black anyways to match my truck. Although I am a shitty welder...I'll need to hire someone.... Anyone wanna come over in the wither and weld my trailer for free lunch and beers?:D
Are you guys sure about jb weld??
..I was really considering....

Are you sure the framework is cracked? A lot of manufacturers use filler to smooth the welds and joints prior to painting.

sand blast those areas to see whats up with the welds....
I'd help, but I doubt you want to drive to the bay area just for free welding.

Both my Campbell and Hondo trailer have never split a weld, maybe in the early 70s welders were not smoking crack?

Well I think its meth now-a-days. LOL...True that though...now that I think of it my Omega Trailer was built in 79 and has never cracked a weld. But in year 2000 with better technology and regulations a top trailer builder builds a crap trailer. Yep! Must be that meth :D
