View Full Version : Stainless A to much for 400HP OLds?

can anyone tell me if a Stainless A to much for my 400 horse Olds 455.Im turnin A/B 5300 RPM now 60-63 mph would like more holeshot and less RPM. dont want to kill it all together hence the question.

Casey an "A" cut is perfect! IMO but for 400 hp Stainless is a "mite" overkill ,a good quality aluminum would be fine unless strength is an issue for reasons other than HP Your Olds should turn a A/T "A" on average about 4400 to 4600 ..Tom

Tom thanks for the quick response. You dont have a trade out program do you ,used for used? lol I have a Dominator A/B lookin for a A. of course you can do the labor of changin it and ill do the payin?

I agree with Tom. Spend the $$ elsewhere. A detailed "A" would be very nice or add an inducer.......

I have a A you can try out, You gotta come over and pull it!! Besides, I would like to try that A/B on my boat. :)

Dennis you can def try the A/B.
Tom's gonna hook me up with a Regular A. Im gonna have a go at it myself, Tom says pretty basic. I think Im up for it.
