3M Heavy Duty compound about a gallon, 3 Wool pads, hi speed buffer about 1800 rpms, alot of hours then follow up with a high quality metal polish like brite boy. alot of money in materials. When we do them its usually 2 guys and about 8-12 hours depending on size, but the outcome is way worth it.

Air conditioner coil cleaner. Just spray it on, wait a few min. and spray it off. My buddy who is in the heat and air business left his pontoon in the water year round, after being in the water a few years the pontoons looked terrible. After he did that, they looked brand new.

The Hot Sauce line does wonders, looks like it's gonna be some work though.

I believe Big Doug (who posts here) came up with his own solution that works.

User some metal polish and apply with a poece of carpet. Should polish it to be like new.
It will bring a lot of the black out of the toons too, so you may need a few pieces of carpet.

...and a week of your time. isn't there something that you can just spray on them and come back and wipe it off to make it look like new.
Michael, that is what your chemist needs to work on for us.
BTW, did you just wake up? your spelling is a little off.:D

Perfect thread started. I am in the middle of rebuilding from the deck up my 30 ft. 3 toon. Looking to avoid the 12 hours of grunt work on the toons - considering all of the other tedious exercises I have going on with the build. Any other bright ideas from you pros out there.

Phosphoric acid, or for a REALLY nice surface (and you're feeling particularly suicidal), Hydrofluoric acid.

DO NOT put acid on the pontoons they are aluminum. The only way is to polish them out.

chemicals like acid will pit the metal. Metal polish is the right way.

for a mirror like appearence take it to a semi trailer place that polishes the tractor trailers. For about 300.00 ( I heard ) they will do the job of polishing. Then go by a product called SHARKHIDE and put this on the newley polished tunes and they will stay that way for 3 to 5 years depending on water conditions. The polishing is the hard part and well worth letting somone else do the hard work. I polished mine and is was a real job even with a professional wheel and proper compounds.

Yea out here most truck stop wash shops charge about $500 bucks. We charge less then that. 1/2 goes to labor the other 1/2 to materials, I personally would clear them after, the water conditions out here are harsh. Sharkhide or Joop wont last long.
