What is involved in putting a JG split bowl on a JE pump? Is it just a matter of changing the bowls or is the shaft and impeller going to be set up differently.

Unbolt the old and rebolt the new. They are interchangeable.

As Taylorman said, the G will bolt on in place of the C, however, when you start considering things like diverters, droops, etc, you have to keep in mind the E cable arrangement. Can you convert your E cables to a C/G config? If so, you'll be saving yourself complications later.

Standard 12je with g bowl ...........http://www2.***boat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103552
With all the setback talk. Anyone ever looked into a hybrid 12je/c intake pump.
ie. recasting by aftermarket supplier or welding a standard c type suction on an e pump?
Strength shouldn't be huge issue. Welds real nice. Also the je is strong enough by itself.
I guess, why bother, the je performs ok by itself. :)
