The difference is bore size. The 366 cannot be bored out to 427 specs because of thinner cylinder walls.

Well, what I was going to do was make a stroker out of a 427, but instead I got a 366, so would I be wasting my time trying to stroke the 366, or would it better finding a 427 or a 454 to stroke cause Im on a budget w/this. Thanks for any help.

Apollo,
Considering the 366 can't accept as large of an initial bore as the 427/454, you would be starting at a disadvantage by building with that block. Assuming you stroke the 366 and the 427/454 the same amount you would notice a nice increase in cubes by going with the bigger bore to start with. Since you're probably going to spend money on a crank rods and pistons either way, you might as well spend the money on putting it into the bigger block. Other than the bore limitations, I would think your bottom end components would be identical.
Good luck,
Chris
