Had this 1 gallon aux fuel tank used for nitrous. I don't need it
anymore and I'm too cheap to go buy a puke tank I figured
I could make it work somehow. Used the rubber inserts from
an old broken nitrous bottle mount and some 1/8" strap aluminum
to bend up a mount. Still need to have someone weld in some
bungs (no welder damnit). Got some left over -10AN line and
fittings from an old (also no longer used) remote oil filter setup
so I figure that should work o.k. although probably a little
smallish. I'll have to block off the old breather holes with some
plate and tap them for fittings. The cool part is.....it'll all be
stainless lines and fittings. Hopefully it'll look half way decent
when it's done. All the puke tanks I've seen are mounted higher
than the valve covers so I guessed that there's a reason for that.
Hopefully this'll get rid of that pesky misting and messy valve
covers etc. It was never terrible, but still a nuisance.
Can I ditch my PCV valve after this is done, or should I still
run it?

Making up a new bracket for the nitrous solenoids and regulator too.
I've replumbed this thing so many different ways over the 6 years
I've had it, that it really needed to be redone. Don't laugh it aint finished
yet. The other solenoid is spaced the same on the other side of the
intake. Gonna mount the regulator on that same plate. Last year I
had 5 feet of hose feeding the fuel side. When it's done it'll be about
6 inches.

Looks great ! Minimal outta pocket cost is even better. I doubt you'll need the PCV, I'm not using one and have no 'misting' troubles. Plus you'll have one less line to get in the way of all those cool nitrous lines :D.
I've seen smoe tanks mounted below the valve covers, but not many. I mounted mine higher so any oil that does blow by and out the covers can drain back. So far so good.

Trying to Make the old silk sow out of a purse's ear (or something like that).
Thanks for letting me know about the tank's position and being able
to ditch the PCV. I'll just cork it off (so to speak) and use it as an oil
fill hole since my breathers will be sealed off now.
Too bad the tank didn't have another opening on top. I could've doubled
up on the breathers and it would've actually looked more like a puke tank
rather than an old retired fuel tank.

Looks great! Don't forget you need a way to drain it. You'll get quite a bit of water in it.

There's actually a tapped bung in the bottom/center of it. It's where the fuel used to feed from for the nitrous setup. I can either put a pipe plug in it, or I thought about putting a petcock in it so I could just open it and let it drain then close when finished.
Thanks for the reminder though. That danged tank has been sitting on my shelf gathering dust for four years now. I've had lots of time to think about this.

Squirt,
Good idea for a puke tank. Too bad you are not on this side of the country cause I would weld the fittings and bungs up for you no problem.
Here is mine I made and the mounts as well.

What do you think about the position of the bungs on the tank TJ? I was thinking right in the center on each end?
Sure wish I had welding capabilities. What ever I do with aluminum has to be either riveted or screwed/bolted together. Sure would make for a cleaner job (like yours) without all the fastners.

Squirt,
Yes the fittings/bungs on the ends will fine. When I put my -10 AN fittings on the end of my tank I made I actually put pieces of angle on the inside like a tent sort of. This way if oil does get past to the tank it will hit the angle inside and the oil will fall down to the bottom of the puke tank (well in theory anyway). If you PM me and I can do something for you if you want to send me the tank. I have tons of AN male weld in fittings I got on e-bay.

Probably done for a while. I have a broken seat, carpet is trashed and needs replacing, need some fittings to finish plumbing stuff. Also considering pulling the motor and stripping it down to the short block to have it freshened up with some rings and bearings after I finish these few little odds and ends I got going.
I haven't done a thing to this boat maintenance-wise in the past three years, other than normal maintenance stuff and replacing an oil pan gasket, a battery, and a broken nitrous bottle mount. It's a wonder it's been as reliable as it has.
I've pretty much beat the hell out of this motor for 6 seasons now. I'm thinking it's time.
Very cool offer TJ. I'll shoot you a pm in the morning?
