Which Yamaha sport ATV is the hot set up this year? 700R SE? 450?
Thinking of a quad over a Rhino again this time.

Way too many great quads out.
yfz450
Raptor700
Ltr450
Ktm450
Kfx450
Ds450
Predator
They are all great in my book. I know the KTM has some frame issues thus far, hopefully corrected by next year.
Haven't heard bout too much problems from the others. The only one that really sticks out is the Raptor, it's a bigger heavier bike that's better for trails or dunes.
The LTR is pretty sweet, very wide and low, and fast. Fuel injection is a huge advantage.
I ride mostly dunes, and am a bigger guy so I went with the Raptor. I also plan on kicking some ass and dumping money into the motor so that's just the direction I went.
I would have been happy with any of those bikes. I will have to find a link to the KTM weakpoints

If you like lathargic ugly ass quads, with the same displacement as another quad 100lbs lighter then yea that's a good quad.
Lol jk, it's going to be one of those "first year" quads that will most likely have issues, and then get them straightened out next year haha. But when they do come out it will be interesting to see how they perform

i thought the ktm "issues" were from some guy running it into a tree? to be honest i'd really hate to see what my yfz would look like if i did that.is there a link that goes into some kinda technical specifics? i'd be interested to learn more 'cause i kinda got an eye for that 525xc.

If you are over 5' 10" and/or 190bs+ or so, get the Raptor. If you are a smaller guy and want the ability to throw the bike around and it feel more race-like, get the Suzuki.
The power of the Raptor 700r in stock form cant be beat.

The true sport atv is the Honda 450R, Bike is domination on the tracks and honda's history speaks for it self. I think the 250R's are still selling for more now than back then!!!!!!

So of the Yamaha stuff it looks like the 2008 700R SE would be my best bet. I was wondering if the bigger bike wouldn't be the right one. I don't really want another Rhino, I've had two and would like to go back to something a little more fun for me to ride or drive.

I would buy another 700r Raptor in a second if I wasn't too lazy to ride a quad. :D You wont be disappointed.
Once you get it, remove the pea shooter from the exhaust pipe and take the airbox lid off. You'll have a totally different bike.

buy my 06 YFZ 450 long travel quad. Its been ridden three times in glamis only. All stock with the exception of a TwinAir filter, and a sick Hydro Dynamics 3.0 + inch long travel front suspension with F18 I- SHOCKS and a blingstar bumper... Dude i need five grand quick so its yours for that, the suspension was 1850 on top of a 7 grand quad seems fair to me... lemme know, you wont be dissapointed
Never even used the dirt tires, give you the ITP dunestars or whatever the sand tires are too, ill throw in two Large Troy Lee Designs helmets too, i need the money quick someone buy it....

Go for the 700Raptor Andy, that torque range is great and the 08's come with piggybacks standard, or get an 07 SE or GYTR, motor is same-piggybacks, for a little less $. Plenty of 07's out there.
KTM looks like fun, been waiting to see what the two guys on GD say after their first glam. runs this weekend on them.

I think the best choice for you might just be the 700 Raptor. Since you'll be selling in a month or two, they really hold their short term value.:D
The 700 is a controllable beast, right out of the crate. The go fast potential, via add-ons, makes it one of the better buys.

The only reason why I didn't go with a YFZ is because it's just a little too cramped for my height. I am 6' 2", and only the Raptor, TRX, and LTR really felt that comfortable to me.
Yfz's and Raptors seem to be the king of the hill, with the occaisional Trx too.
It's more of just a rider preference. I'm sure you've got friends with Bikes Andy, just try some of them out!

This is a great deal for 5 grand....... I would buy this one and ride it for a season. If you end up liking it, keep it. If not blow it out at the end of the season.. I can't see losing money on this deal.... Just my opinion. I recently bought my wife a used 06' LTZ400.. While I was looking around I found that people want way too much for their used quads... If you want to buy new you could go down to LA Cycles and buy a Yamaha or Suzuki 450 for $6200 otd

I have a Raptor 700 GYTR. It is a great bike with plenty of power. If you are a bigger guy like previously stated, it is the way to go. If you are smaller, the 450's are good bikes. Sit on both of them and see which one feels more comfortable. The power is similar on both bikes.

None of the new bikes will ride as good as this 450 with suspension on it. The 450 makes great power and with the suspension up grades you cant beat this deal. Remember...sand tire $350, 2 Troy Lee helmets $400-$600.

I went through this before I bought my rhino. I rode the Honda 450, yami 450 and the Raptor 700. As for power I felt they were all great. So my descision was gonna be on comfort. I'm 6'2" and about 190lbs and the only one I really fit well on was the Raptor. Its just a bigger beast. The Honda was second with the Yami 450 falling last. In fact I absolutely hated the feel of the Yami 450. Not to mention the smooth power of the 700 just felt great and easy to control.

Thanks for the help, I pick my quads up this Friday.
I wasn't sure if the 700 would be to big, but after looking and reading your replies I decided on a 700R SE for me and the new Raptor 250 for the wife. Just wasn't ready for another Rhino.
