Ok, so the temps here in S.E. Michigan are dropping into the 30's... This is my first jet boat and just checking if there is any special i need to do to the pump to winterize it and get all the water out. I don't want any surprises when spring comes around...!;)
I already know the basic things to do to the motor, but i'm open to any suggestions or comments. My combo is the ol' BBO 455 and 'cuzzi pump.
cheers,
gary

I just try to blow out all the water lines with compressed air. If you feel you still have water in there pour down some RV antifreeze.

Even after blowing it out with air you still should fill it with rv antifreeze to stop any corrosion inside the block.

I built an inexpensive coolant pump for mine....I have a flush fitting right after the valve...I close the valve to prevent flow into the pump....hook up the leads to the battery ...fill the bucket with a 50/50 coolant mix...and hit the go button...about 30 seconds later when anti freeze flows out of the exhaust tips...I crack the valve to allow a little into the pump.....winterization complete....

Now that is an awesome Idea.. I even have one of those pumps in my shed.... Two questions. What did you use to stop up the outlet on the rear? Or did you just remove that line and block it ? and will the jet just holding some coollant be sufficient?

All the water in my jet goes out the exhaust...the flush fitting is in front of the valve....so closing the valve forces the coolant thru the entire cooling system....forcing any water out first....opening the valve floods the pump bowl with anti freeze as well
On a stern drive with a thermstat..I run the engine on the hose first ....then shut down...switch from the hose to the pump.restart..and pump coolant till it comes out the exhaust pipes...

That is a little different from mine but that kicks ass.. Ill figure a way to stop the overflow out of the rear. As fas as the bowl it is obviosuly not water tight so you just let what ever sits in the bowl sit there?

My boat is in covered ..unheated storage..there is nothing that can get in it so yes, the antifreeze solution sits in the bowl....I have been doing my boats this way for years with no adverse affects...
