PM scarabrick2...he's our guy here in Vegas.
I know they can be expensive. I worked at Paddock back in the day and I want to say they're about $80 average per filter. I know ours takes 4 of them. They can be more or less. Good luck.

At $625, it seems that the entire filter housing went south? I just had this happen on my pool and replaced it with a Hayward Pro-Grid DE Filter. The expense depends on the size and the type (DE, sand, etc). Mine is a 60sq. The filter itself was $470, the valve was $100 and shipping and tax another $150. I installed it, which was not too hard, but takes time to do it right. I reworked the plumbing while I was at it. Here's who I bought it from:
AQUA SWIMMING POOL SUPPLIES
20940 S Normandie Ave.
Torrance, CA 90502
888 298-6165
Good luck!

...thanks! Guess I was just looking to see if his price was alright. I've had the guy for a bit over 6 years and he was claiming it was the bare price.

Mine is a cartridge filter and the case cracked. All I did was get a fiber glass kit and patch it from the inside. That was five years ago  :D

... Sounds like a really great option, as I have tenants in there now and winter is upon us...

Great fix for now........
However ,when you sell the house, I'd replace it and buy the new home owner the "pool warranty" . You'll be better off in the long run...
I can call and get you a price if you want. send me your specs....

Thats not a bad price... delivered for a complete filter, typical home filters are the 40-48 sf series. We do alot of work up here in the High Desert. I would ask him to show you the crack, cracked housings are highly unusual, cracked manifolds, grids and seal leaks are more common.
