I'm not sure how accurate my speedo is but, I know my truck can haul the mail when I lock out the torque converter in tow mode.:D

At 115, your truck will feel like the wheels are shaking loose, and the driveline is going through some rough harmonics, the hood wants to fly open, and you have to eek that engine to get all of it. Not even comparable to 115 in a sports car.

I've never driven it that fast but a bone stock version was tested at 141, back in 01. It tows well for a short pickup

The computor shut down my 01 F-150 Super Crew at 100 on the nuts... It felt like you were in a towncar at that speed... The Super Duty 250 diesel only went 96.. But not near as relaxed by any means.. But it could pull the boat like it wasnt back there.. Used to check the mirrors just to make sure it didnt fall of the ball.

New ones what???? Both Chevy and Ford have EDR's installed. Event Data Recorders can be accessed by the dealer in the event of an accident with a court order.

Do you still have your Lightning? Mine has been a great truck and has been stock, except exhaust and intake, since a tranny replacement. My powertrain warranty is done in March.

My truck had the governor set at 95. I had it reprogrammed. I almost died in a head on one time passing another car when the governor shut off the fuel/spark to my truck. I s h i t purple twinkies at that moment!!:jawdrop:

I can snap the speedo in 3 seconds flat, and 150mph plus down the 710 freeway feels like its floatin on air.

yes i still have the lightning. its a 2001 and i just turned 12,000 miles on it. i own 3 ford trucks and i pretty much just use my lightning for drag racing only. i use my V-10 powered F-250 superduty for towing. it has the same 4R-100 trans that the lightning uses. i put a factory tech valve body (shift kit) in both of my trucks transmissions. the lightning also got a 3,000 stall converter.
here is a pic of my superduty towin my my lightning to the track. i have hit 100 mph on GPS in my lifted superduty. it has a 9" lift and 38" tall ground hawgs.

They left the "Lightning" package off my 97 F150, and replaced it with the ""drives like shit" package so my speedo ends at 100 and I hope it never goes faster than that while I'm driving it. In fact, I've never had the slightest desire to find out how fast the POS goes. I'm sure I've never had it over 85 or 90. I hope Ford had the sense to put a fuel cut in the thing. The brakes suck, the handeling is terrible, it's got non speed rated truck & suv tires on it, 4.56 gears, and a high center of gravity. It's designed for hauling shit, not speeding. That's what sports cars and bikes are for.:D

Cool picture. Mine has been more of a driver and has almost 60K miles. Are you running a Kenne Bell or Nitrous. My hot rod was my 03 Cobra, which I sold last year to pay for the new boat.

as far as the blower is concerned i run the stock 1.8 L blower which when the truck was bone stock i was getting 8 psi of boost. i changed out my intake system and got 10 psi. i changed out my lower pulley and then got 14 psi. then i had apten port my stock blower and i got 16 psi. whipple now has a 3.3 L blower available and that will be my next move along with a JDM long block, etc. my power level is gonna go way up with the twin screw rotor whipple as it is nearly twice the size of the stock blower and more efficient. i plan on running more or less 19 psi out of it. with all of the supporting mods i have on my truck, etc. it should dyno at more or less 650 rwhp (800 crankshaft horsepower) on race gas. not bad for 331 cubic inches huh?

I ran mine with a lower pulley until the tranny went. I commicated with factory tech (I can't remember his name, Greg Evans??? ) about a valve body, but never got around to doing it. My Lightning stays parked at my house in AZ, and mainly get used for short tows to and from the River. In fact it's even been running a stock tune. Boring, I know. I had the 03 Cobra for a couple of years and it satisfied all of my go fast needs. They are great trucks, IMO

my 08 Super Duty witha PowerJoke will do 98 all day it feels like my boat doesnt sound as good:D :D
I got my 03 Mustang Cobra that we did the R conversion... we pulled the old 4.6 with only 9,900 miles and started looking for a motor. Found a wrecked 05 navigator we hacked the motor for 4 grand with everything. Took it MMR modular mustand racing and had Mark Ludwick(i think thats the spelling) tear it down and build it with the best of everything. Custom built his own fuel injection runners and everything, put 12.1 internals. All naturally aspirated running fully stock interior and everything put out 408hp at the back wheels.
I can run a ferrari 360 spyder till about 145 he cant touch me then the tranny dies out, i could way re gear it but i dont wanna touch the Tremec its awesome.

My 4.8 tahoe did about 125. It felt like driving my 68 bug at 40. I haven't messed around with my 5.3 tahoe too much. I don't feel comfortable driving it over 80. My commuter car is another story....
