tHIS IS FOC'N HARD!! but here goes
we were at dumont today and a kid, about 10 yrs old
was jumping his dirt bike and t- boned the side of my sand car
doing about 60 mph, I was just about stopped when he hit
The poor kid was life less when I got out off the car
with a very faint pulse,
the crash blew his shoes off, I was able to get a slight
movement of his toes, and he started to breath shallow
his eyes were blank,
It took about an hour for flight for life
to get there,
he was still out.
I'm sorry guys, call me a puzzy
but I'm cry'n again
please, please, please,
Pray for him

Our son was flown to UMC in Vegas as well. The care is really good although they are very strict with visitors, they almost didn't let my in-laws in to my sons room until I threw a fit.

2 forceful. You sound like a great guy and it sounds like this has really shaken you up, which I'm sure would happen to most of us. Glad to hear you came out of this ok and we'll pray for the kid that he does to. I think it may be a good idea though for you to lay low on any public forum though when it comes to details of this accident. The pics and details of the accident can be twisted all around on a public forum and come back to bite you. I would hate to see that as it seems you were just in the wrong spot at the wrong time. However I think it would be alright if you kept us informed on the kids progress. Hang in there bud.

i was involved in a freak accident like this as the defendant where there was a fatality and it was a complete accident no wrong duing just an accident and what it came down to was physical evidence and almost completly just judgment of caracter and it sounds like you are a person of great caracter just for staying most people i think wouldnt have stayed just because of the presure and that will speak louder than anything the fact that you were there to the end and are still in contact with the family. just show that you care and it will all work out for the best. just remember ACCIDENTS happen and he is a lucky kid that you were paying atenition and not some jerk drunk and being careless or he wouldnt have had a change.we are thinking of all of you guys involved and im sure it will work itself out for the best.;)

Really sorry to hear this news - I know mentally this is probably as difficult on you, as the family. At least the family is communicating with you, showing they may not have too much resentment.
We had a similar situation where my brother was flying up osbourn wash on his bike & a boy pulled from one of the side trails directly in front of him on an ATC. The boy sustained head trauma & has difficulty retaining knowledge. This was about 15 years ago. A suit was never filed, but they have extended there rights to do so.
I really hope he pulls through OK. Stay as involved as possible, but remember the family has a lot to cope with & may need some may need some privacy.

Sorry to hear about this.
What did the police report say? Did they clear you of everything in the initial investigation?
Outside of the boys condition, those would be my next 2 concerns.
Sorry you had to go through this. A good friend of mine in UT just had something similar. His 16 y/o daughter was driving the posted speed limit in a neighborhood and a 10 y/o boy flew out of a driveway on a skateboard and she hit him. The driver was cleared of any all wrongdoing. My friend and his family tried to do everything they could to help the family of the boy. The boy was in the hospital a few days and ended up being OK (100% recovery), but the family never once wanted to talk to my friend and his family. Actually, the boy's family had their neighbors thell my friend to leave them alone, and all he wanted to do was make sure their family was OK and help with the situation any way they could.
You never know what actions some may take, so just cover your tracks and get as many experts to agree.

was anyone at the dumont little dunes this weekend?
There Fri - Sun. About a dozen of us left for the vendors/comp hill sometime Sat early afternoon. When we were leaving, we saw a chp copter hovering overhead. We didn't know what happened and didn't hear about the accident when we got back to camp. I hope the kid pulls through.

We saw the tractor backing off the trailer as we left(Sun 9:30am). We figured someone was dug in pretty good. Great news that the kid is doing better. I'm new to riding and it's pretty damn scary to hear about this accident and the Glamis one. We're headed to Glamis the weekend after Christmas and I hear it's much larger and taller than big dumont.

That is very good news, forceful.
As you saw from the pic I sent, it is truly amazing just how much damage the body can sustain and recover from. Shutting down is the first step, and it can look and be very scary. A person can fall off 2 stairs and get killed, a kid can hit a sand car just right at 65 and survive. 1 person can die in a wreck and the person next to them walks away. Their is no REAL rhyme or reason to it. Lets continue to hope and pray for the best and with a little luck this will be one of the stories with a good ending! :)

Not to thread jack. But Dumont has taller dunes than glamis. Surface acres of Glamis over Dumont is probably 15 times bigger, but Dumont has the gnarlier dunes.

tHIS IS FOC'N HARD!! but here goes
we were at dumont today and a kid, about 10 yrs old
was jumping his dirt bike and t- boned the side of my sand car
doing about 60 mph, I was just about stopped when he hit
The poor kid was life less when I got out off the car
with a very faint pulse,
the crash blew his shoes off, I was able to get a slight
movement of his toes, and he started to breath shallow
his eyes were blank,
It took about an hour for flight for life
to get there,
he was still out.
I'm sorry guys, call me a puzzy
but I'm cry'n again
please, please, please,
Pray for him
OH MY! He (as well as you) will be in my prayers! God...this is terrible!:(

Thanks for the clarification, the folks in my campsite were talking about how Glamis just blows Dumont away both in sq miles and height/steepness of dunes. kind of made me a little nervous that I've only been riding 3 times and I'd be facing some kind of Goliath. The best advice I've gotten so far is when in doubt...throttle out.

to have that cat laying around. prevost coaches are badass. The co i work for bought one last year and have another two builds going back to back.

Rick, it's not good, they have learned that daniel has a biger brain
injury that they though and had to put him back on the seditaves.
14 to 30 day more to give time to heal, then they will try to let him wake up again
