Anybody have one of these yet? If so how do you like it and what kind of MPG are you getting out of it.
Thanks,
James

I hear it is not good, around 13-14mpg. I am getting 17/20 in my 2007 5.9 Mega 4x4 now that I aired my tires up to 70F/60R PSI. Hit 21 on a recent freeway trip of 400 miles.

I have the 6.7 and love the power. This is the 4th Cummins I have owned and this engine and tranny combo is by far the best. The fuel milage is right at 14mpg.

I wish I could have got the 5.9 with the new tranny. I would be pulling 25mpg hwy in a 4x4:D

4 wheel drive. I am not sure how much the mpg suffers.

I had an 03 2wd lwb with a 5.9 235hp 460lbs torq and got an average of 20 to 21.5. Towing I would get 16mpg plus average, on the highway on a trip I would get as high as 25 mpg. I now have an 07 4x4 swb with a 5.9 325hp 600ft lbs torq and get 19.4mpg plus average and 17.4 towing and 21.5 to 23.5 highway. All towing was done with a 22' Eliminator. I expected to get less mileage with the 07 but was surprised that I got better milage towing. I hope this helps:D

There are several good Dodge forums on line. The mileage has dropped significantly with Ford, Dodge and Chevy. Interesting how emisions equipment is such a good thing when the proposed savings in pollution is more than offset by fuel consumption. (I digress....) Do a little reading on these, Dodge is struggling to keep the top of the motors and turbos alive. There are quite a few reports of problems. Ford and Chevy are also have some problems with the new emissions, but they don't apear to be as common or as catastrophic as Dodge. They may have this all worked out by now also, traditionally that Cummins has been a great motor.
Be aware, do your homework.

Well it sounds like the 5.9 got good mileage and this 6.7 isn't doing so well in that department! For my next truck I want something that is going to be economical to drive but still can tow and that's why I'm thinking a diesel.

I have seen some dealers in the sacramento area that still have new 07s with the 5.9 for sale with discounts of $12,000 off msrp :D

Is it s Cali 235hp/450tq motor? If so...they suck. I had one and it got shit mileage too and had no balls. The 305hp/600tq motor is soooo much better on power and fuel.
If you ease into the throttle at stop lights you would be amazed at how much better it will get. My wife was getting 15mpg until I showed her that tip and she is now getting 17mpg running around town.

In 2003 they went to a high pressure fuel rail which made an big difference in the fuel economy. Not sure what year the motor is your talking about.

nope its one of the 600 motors, its an '07. Im pretty sure the 9" lift 37" tires and the fact that I drive it like a vette doesnt help too much.

Bill mine got about 20mpg before the lift and tires, now it gets 14 but if you factor in the difference due to tire size (I didnt correct the ECM) I guess its about 15 - 15.5. Towing I drop down to 12-13. I took my Edge off and it made little difference at all other than ALOT LESS black smoke:)

In 2003 the Cali Cummins was 235hp with the common rail injection. It was de-tuned for Cali and was a dog. Unfortunately I bought one.:(

Mine ran good. I left it stock except for the air cleaner. In fact it didn't run any different than the 2001 I had. I gave the 03 to my step daughter so she could haul her ponies to the shows and she just loves it.

The truck ran great it just had no balls compared to my 600 and got crap mileage. Not all 2003's were 235hp. It may have not been introduced in some NorCal areas without emissions problems like SoCal. STV Keith would know. I talked to him about the truck a few times and he has some good knowledge.
