Well I went to our companies battery dealer yesterday looking for some batts. They do all our elec. work for our Peterbuilts and Cat equip. My stereo is around 2500 watts. I have room for 3-4 group 31 batts. I want one isolated for starting the engine. I know most of you guys are running the spendy Odesseys and Optimas. They leaned me towards thier Trojan brand Marine Deep Cycle. I can get them for $103 each. They have a 225min reserve @ 25amps. $270 Odessey pc2150 is 200 min @ 25 amps and the $165 Optima blue deep cycle is 155 @ unknown amp. I know service life is not as many years, but I can buy 2-3 sets for the same money. These batt. are usually used for trolling motors. What am I missing here. This seems to be a no brainer. Are the Trojans as good as thier rubbers? Just joking!

Do a search on here. Its been covered many times. It depends on who you talk to. Many peeps run the Trojans and do very well with them.

I have done many searches and have only read about the 2 big O's nothing about trojans, except in bench racers.

Here is what I got:
http://www.***boat.com/forums/search.php?searchid=854473
For some reason that link died, here is another.
If it dies again just go to search and type:
trojan bat*
That wild card will get you the results you need.

There is more to think of then what is the best battery.
Also think of how you are going to mount it. For some of the batteries, battery mounts are not that available.

I don't understand the question as it seems liek you answered it yourself. Don't you think that based on price the Trojan is the proper choice for you?
What?

The answer to his question seems simple enough to me though.....

That would be my biggest concern. You can get a billet box for an Optima from every aftermarket supplier in almost any color. For group 24's/27's and 31's the selection is limited. The blue Optima's are at Costco for 149.99. They don't have a battery tester so you can return them each year and get new ones, it's pretty much hassle free. That's not a bad deal......

As far as reliability/quality I can only really say anything about the Optimas. They are great. I run radio (not stereo but radio broadcast, like long-range walkie talkies) equipment as part of my GPS set-up and the blue optima will run the stuff 7-11 hrs a day 5-6 days a weeks for over a year with no trouble. Thats using it during the day and then charging it overnight. I'm not sure how this would compare to the load/amp ranges of your stereo equipment but it certainly says something about their durability when ive had other batteries running my same equipment last 1/2 season or less.

Mounting isn't a big issue. I did think of something though. 2 of the 4 batts will be way back under the hatch. I would not be able to get a view of the cell water levels. That leads me to think more about an AGM.
Interesting reading on the search. I guess opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one and thier shitty.

my main dislike of lead/acid battery is corrision of terminals and hydrogen gas while charging.the gel batteries dont have this problem-the dont give off gas and dont corrode.i dont like cleaning battery terminals.
